Screenshot the jerks' chat log, and report 'em. That's definitely harassment. I will never understand why people get mad at new players wanting to experience cutscenes. If waiting an extra half minute is so difficult for you, then do stuff with a premade party of like-minded individuals. Otherwise, get over it in DF and let people watch stuff.

I don't see anyone making a fair distinction as to how it diminishes the game experience to watch cutscenes later at the comfort of your inn instead of making people wait for no other reason than your own personal agenda.

Really? You wouldn't think your experience diminished if you were suddenly made to skip ahead several chapters in a book to the "exciting part" and only be allowed to read the rest at some unspecified later date?

I've heard that if you do some of the content is left out, like making choices or something. I have not checked this out myself but apparently it is a little different? Not to mention for me it's out of context like going on a trip to somewhere new, seeing the sites and the monuments then waiting till your vacation is over and reading the history and info about what you saw at home. It's not the way the designers made the game, you can watch them later in the inn but imo its so you can see something cool again like buying the dvd instead of renting it once. /shrug
Look at it this way, this is not a single player game, every choice we make affects others. If we decided to jump into an extreme mode primal or coil without watching videos, we would die, we would slow down progression and all together ruin the experience for everyone, wasting everyone's time. If people didn't live inside this bubble call "ME ME ME" we wouldn't be having this discussion.
If cs's were a once in a lifetime opportunity, then I would agree with you, but it's not.
I personally never tell people to skip cs's, I usually expect them to use common sense. I skipped cs's in my first runs and I didn't complain, because I knew people in them had already done them before, and I knew they all had lives and responsibilities outside the game.
Is watching cs's at a specific time instead of your own private time more important than wasting people's time?
No

It diminishes the game experience because the developers designed those cutscenes with the express purpose of the player watching them at those very points in the level. When you watch them at an inn you're watching them without the context of the full level. You don't get to view the cutscenes with your full party members' models in them either, which diminishes the epic group team-up mentality of levels like that. Just because impatient, rude people don't want to wait for party members doesn't change the fact that these cutscenes were made to be viewed in-level.
It's also incredibly selfish of someone to demand that of a person who's experiencing that for the first time... I'm guessing you either (A) are selfish and don't care about other people's enjoyment of a game, or (B) were forced by some other impatient person to skip your own cutscenes when you initially ran that level and are now angrily passing that on to the next person ("If I had to skip them, so does everyone else!").
Also I have to laugh at the "wasting other people's time" part... Ooooh I have to wait a couple extra minutes (and I'm saying a couple minutes of total time... it's really only 30 secs to a minute for most individual cutscenes) in a timesink game where people often sit around for hours at a time doing little to nothing anyway. I'm sure "busy" people like you could alt-tab and check your email or get a drink or something if that's soooo much time you're losing out on.

Castrum Meridianum-Opens up with cs, cs at turning off lights, cs at entrance before boss, cs after boss, cs after going upstairs, cs before second boss, cs after boss, cs after next boss, cs after turning off searchlights, cs after beating the flying ship, cs at boss, cs after boss, cs after second round. (Maybe I missed one, who knows) That's a total of 13 cs's, we can't count the last one of course, so that's 12 we have to sit and wait, that is not counting the time it takes for them to read text, which can be surprisingly long to some people.
Yeah I'll wait those "extra minutes" next time.
