Is this game slowly dying?

If anything most of the NA servers feel more crowded. In fact, half the time I get kicked from the server on weekends because there are too many folks logged in.

Just FYI, FFXI has been "dying" going on like 8 years now. Basically find balance in your life, I have most things level but I'm certainly not rushing it. No MMO out there will give you things to do forever if you never log out. Eventually you will run out of content, at least the content you are interested in. Some people level one battle class to 50, do a few raids then complain, "I have nothing to do." Happens all the time on every MMO that has or ever will come out for all eternity, just be happy there is no pay-to-win F2P crap garbage here.

Either this game will die or you'll get bored of it first. In any case, you'll eventually stop playing.
The effort you put into this game will probably never really amount to anything in the real world. It should, however, be a reflection of how engaged you are with enjoying the game itself now. Don't treat it like a job or serious project, it's not meant to be that. It's supposed to be a fun distraction to entertain your free time. Relax and enjoy yourself.

^ This. couldn't have said it better. In my opinion the only way FFXIV ARR will die is if the player's and SE stops supporting it.

Played FFXI for years, its now "worthless" to me. Played WoW for years, its now "worthless" to me. In the end any game you play online will end up worthless to you, dying or not. Just play the game to enjoy it.

In 2.4, I'm expecting login queues for Leviathan server. Ninja alone will bring a large portion of burnt out players back.
