Didn't they say they were canceling PS3 versions at some point, or was this hearsay?
But honestly, after the last few patches, my expectations are at an all time low for future content. 2.4? Ninja is going to be overhyped for the first week, and die off to be nothing special and another dps class later on. Gold Saucer? Similar mini-games to what we have in the inn rooms. New trials and dungeons? Ilvl 85-90 that'll get stomped so hard by people who have ilvl 100-110 because of hunts.
And having low expectations has its own implications as well...how is the game supposed to spread by word-of-mouth if low-expectations are the norm after the last few updates? I can't even take dev's word of mouth because now I know they can (and have) went back on it literally on the day of.
The way the game is right now, there isn't anything sustainable end-game for your typical new players. The dungeons and ST doesn't take that long or effort to clear, moreso now that people are literally stomping through it in record time to feed their novus. Could be like me and level all the DoH/DoL classes, but that doesn't appeal to everyone. Late game is essentially off limits to anyone that isn't in a good server group for PF or a static due to the heavy reliance on mechanics and spot checks (which may also be a problem for hardcore players since there's no sense of satisfaction clearing content beyond the first time and praying to RNG).
And now they're running into the same trap that WoW is. Their sub numbers plummet substainally because of how long they're spending in MoP after their last dungeon release. I believe its been 6 months now? All you have left is hope that the expansion good enough to get those players back and retain them with new and exciting content throughout, both in the travel and the destination.
