Do they even have a solid purpose for them yet? Seems like another piece of content that will be disappointing at the moment, along with Primal Summoning; "Oh I can summon a Primal with my FC? Why? As an extra LB on Odin? Pfft". Guess that would be nice for Hunts, but I'm sure the Hunts Union (very hard not to resort to Godwin's Law here...) would state that we shouldn't use Primals on them, so everyone can get maximum credit !

Really not sure what purpose FC Airships are meant to fill, and I'd probably be more excited about it if Eorzea didn't have some pretty meh Airship designs.

I do recall Yoshida saying in a couple Live Letters we're headed to the "sky" in a future patch/expansion, so maybe that's what the airship is for. ^^;

I really doubt they'd force people to shell out for a FC/FC House/FC Airship in order to access an expansion area, there would have to be some other means of getting there. We already have a fairly large uproar of people annoyed at Housing/Gardening/Chocobo Stables being locked behind FCs, if they locked an expansion behind them...

I do think it'd be the most likely use for it. And it wouldn't be forced. Just an easy way to get to the expansion area from your house.

Might be able to take you to all the main cities as well. Not that I'd use that...

perhaps you get a "meh" airship through the main scenario just to reach that floating continent. But if you want a pretty/better one you gotta make it.

If it's not forced, then it's not really a purpose. It's like... If they made it so you can use your FC Airship for all the things regular Airships are for... What's the point? Shell out millions of Gil so you never have to pay 120 Gil for Airship rides again?

Well, that depends entirely on how the Airships are used. If they replace them in cutscenes, that laughable; you'd be paying to see a better Airship in a cutscene... If you actually fly them, things could get interesting, but SE hasn't let us fly an airship since Final Fantasy IX, so I wont get my hopes up.

Well, house has quite a few things that are available elsewhere. The point is convenience. I spend most of my time at my FC house.

I remember Yoshi said in a live letter that if everyone tries to drive the airship they could crash it, or something along those lines. We can assume that we will be piloting them, but we wont know yet.
