Yeah - 3 control at the expense of 3 CP is not okay in my book - that CP is way more valuable.

That should have read So the Ehcatl Smithing Gloves are kinda....pointlessIn comparison to my melded i55 crafting gloves. I only get +3 more Control and I lose the +3 CP that I have. I decided to go ahead and wear them, because +3 Control is more important to me than the 3 CP that I never use. I was just kinda hoping these gloves would have been a considerable leap in control/craftsmanship for being i70. Well, it would have been nice to maybe have one slot to meld materia in.
Also, I find it extremely lame you can't desynth these. For one, it would have provided people another source to get Mastercraft and Fieldcraft III from. For two, it would keep people doing the Ixal beast tribe quests to keep getting oaknots. I really can't think of a single reason why these gloves shouldn't be desynthisizable.
Seems every1 ignores my point, you can meld onto the off-hand a +3 CP instead of control, thus getting the CP back and still gaining +2 control.

No, you're missing the point. Read the following quote.
You need the 3 on the gloves AND the 3 on the Offhand to hit 398. With HQ Bouillabaisse.Fully melded (398) is enough to squeeze in one more Basic touch from the 9-80% 3 Star rotation, making it 8-80% and 1-100%. There is no way of doing this if you swap to the gloves tho, since there is no-where else to add more CP.
I felt pretty sad when I figured out these gloves would hinder more than help :/

Nobody has ever answered this for me, but I've always wondered...Fully melded (398) is enough to squeeze in one more Basic touch from the 9-80% 3 Star rotation, making it 8-80% and 1-100%. There is no way of doing this if you swap to the gloves tho, since there is no-where else to add more CP.

There appears to be a gap between items which require 385 CP to 100% HQ and items which require the entire 398 to 100% HQ. The only items I currently know of that require 398 for this are the i95 Primal Weapons, and those do not need to be HQ as most people are getting them for glamour and not to use them as an actual weapon. Are there any other items out there that require that 398 CP and are absolutely worth getting them to HQ? If not... then is that -3 CP really hurting that much? Well, besides the crafter's pride in HQing everything![]()

This lack of CP on the gloves has been in accepted bugs for a while now, hopefully they will be updated to include CP sometime soon.
