So the Ehcatl Smithing Gloves are kinda... disappointing

In comparison to my melded i55 crafting gloves. I only get +3 more Control and I lose the +3 CP that I have. I decided to go ahead and wear them, because +3 Control is more important to me than the 3 CP that I never use. I was just kinda hoping these gloves would have been a considerable leap in control/craftsmanship for being i70. Well, it would have been nice to maybe have one slot to meld materia in.

Also, I find it extremely lame you can't desynth these. For one, it would have provided people another source to get Mastercraft and Fieldcraft III from. For two, it would keep people doing the Ixal beast tribe quests to keep getting oaknots. I really can't think of a single reason why these gloves shouldn't be desynthisizable.

Just find it stupid you can't do the Ixal dailies with them on.

The Artisan's Spectacles just add +3 Control and nothing else. All the i70 gear really did was save you some melding(especially for crafters) while providing a small bonus. I personally never expected the Echatl gloves to be any different.

My question is why it's an odd duck among the i70 pieces. Instead of being equal to the max melded piece plus a little more, this one adds that control bonus but removes the CP. It's the first(and only) i70 crafting/gathering piece that isn't unequivocally better than the max melded i55 piece, and that's just strange.

Yeah, that was a common complaint I read about, too. Also, I converted all my i55 crafting gloves and got a lot of materia out of it, even a Crafter's Cunning IV, and got excited about it. Until I went to put them on the MB, and I realized Craft IIIs have PLUMMETED. Everyone must be doing the same thing, equipping these gloves, converting their old gear and dumping their materias.

The gloves and specs save meldings and inventory space. I still have alc to lvl and have only begun melding 1 job. I'm grateful for the i70 gloves and spectacles, they save me lots of gil or time. The lose of CP on the gloves, I plan to make up for on the off-hand.

The gloves should actually have the same stats as the specs, ie they should have the 3CP the specs do, since they are the same ilvl and would have the same amount of stats.

While you are limited in how many oaknots you can get, ie 6 per day, the ease at which you can get them is likely why you can't desynth. Unless it's a bug, but who knows.

Actually if you look at other levels of the same slots, like Alc Gloves and Alc head, they have the exact same stats. My point was head/gloves(feet too) have the same stat allowance if you will. MEaning gloves having the same stats except CP, means they are under budgeted.

Edit: I see your point, essentially comparing i70 to i55 isn't what we should do. We should compare the i70 to i70 (hands to head) and in that respect they are short stats.

It's mind-numbingly easy to get specs. It just takes a while to do so, but if you plan on farming all the materials and then making them, you can get 10 or specs in a few hours. You have to wait at least two days to get one pair of gloves.

Fully melded (398) is enough to squeeze in one more Basic touch from the 9-80% 3 Star rotation, making it 8-80% and 1-100%. There is no way of doing this if you swap to the gloves tho, since there is no-where else to add more CP.

I felt pretty sad when I figured out these gloves would hinder more than help :/
