Go do AND clear T9, try most if the end game contents,AS ALL ROLES, maybe then, just maybe you have the right to speak about the easy level of the game...
Simple? Oh well I think the game is uust simple and made harder for alot of peiple via lag. I.e still seeing "new here" or "lagging too much for this, so I'll be dead the wholr fight" when I get Titan Hard Mode. ilvl 109 players still stuck with Titan HM, alot of people are still stuck on T5. Ans I bet that many many many healers are stuck on Ifrit Extreme, for me, by far the hardest fight to heal (have healed everything else but T9, dps main) So, your opinion just differs alot on the "simple game" with many of us.
P.S I'm on phone so some typos might have occured, which I will mostlikely correct once I get home
"Sent on Android device"People need to remember that a healer's job isn't to heal HP
but rather to prevent HP from reaching 0
The problem with end game raids is they are not about individual player skill its about the skill of the entire group because one person can wipe the entire group. OP is talking about making classes based on the potential of the class instead of the potential of the player. The classes/jobs are overly simplified and lack creativity, depth and complexity. The issue in MMO's is players connect to their character's progression more then they do end game raids and gear progression those are fluff when compared to the player's character. Final Fantasy XIV has to strike a balance with classes/jobs having the right amount of complexity and depth to make them fun to play while streamlining them enough for casual players to learn to play them.
With the right amount of complexity Final Fantasy XIV can go from being a game where many players log in to just Raid to a game where players play as their main game because it's fun overall. Adding complexity to the Class/Job system will add longevity to the game instead of the constant revolving door where players un sub for 2 mos and wait for the next patch.

Why is that a problem that a skilled team is required for end game raids? Raids are about teamwork after all. If one individual's skill could carry an entire group that would be a problem.
With how execution/mechanic intensive the fights are in this game, it's less about playing the class and more on playing the mechanic... which diminishes the whole gear progression and being proficient at your class.
There's nothing "teamwork" about hoping person A doesn't get caught in an explosion that causes a chain reaction. From what I've seen, there's very little team/party interaction in a lot of the mechanics that are causing players problems, and more emphasis on "hope no one in the party messes up".

You can apply that 'logic' to pretty much every team game/sport.With how execution/mechanic intensive the fights are in this game, it's less about playing the class and more on playing the mechanic... which diminishes the whole gear progression and being proficient at your class.

Example (baseball): There's nothing "teamwork" about hoping the pitcher doesn't make a poor pitch that leads to a home run.
Is there no teamwork in baseball then? Or is it just a bunch of individuals hoping no one on their side messes up?

Spot on, wish I could give you more then 1 like. You can apply that 'logic' to pretty much every team game/sport.

Not a bad analogy, but FFXIV is consistently about "one mistake by anyone easily = loss" with end-game content. Rice has a huge point there. RL teamwork activities don't usually necessitate a complete restart when any participant makes a small mistake.
The low-to-mid tier content is arguably more about actual teamwork in the sense that the comparative lack of mandatory instant-death mechanics allows players to do a little more to bolster each other and utilize basic strategies to compensate for errors or unfavorable RNG. End-game content is more like an orchestra than it is like a baseball game.
I don't think that FFXIV raiding design is bad, per se, but I think there's room to improve so that it's challenging without following a curve starting with "omg this is hard" at the beginning and ending up as "omg faceroll" when you and your party have learned and can execute the mechanics perfectly.
I'm interested to know how well you're playing on that smn ( if you are not a sch ofc ). Smns have one of the largest differences of dps between moderate play and great play. maximising dps on that class, especially on occasions where more than 1 target are involved, seem pretty complex to me. All the buffs, dots, gcds/non-gcds, choosing how to use aetherflow...it's a lot to manage.
I really hope you aren't using tera as an example of an mmo having a class being able to over play? Tera endgame was pretty simple. Learn Queen hm animations and you're done. Also, having I-frames makes a game easier, not harder. Believe me, theres a lot harder and far more complex fights in FF. The game is ALOT harder.
Sure, gear is handed to people, but no1 gives a crap about gear in FF, it's all about what you can do, not what you have. Which seems hardcore enough to me.
And just so y'know, dungeons and crystal/syrcus tower are casual content. the harder stuff starts at T5 of coil and with some of the extreme primals.
I think you are just used to games like tera where one class can be so overplayed that it can solo endgame content. If this is what you mean, then you are playing the wrong game.
