How can a tank not stand in melee range? I don't get the OP at all.

Muskateer will be the next tank bro, they confirmed its not like anyone will expect...!
Wish I could make a video where you pull the boss, and then you start kiting, to see the melee dps trying to run to catch up and get one hit lol

Black mages suffer horribly when people kite too widely as well. INTERRUPTED. INTERRUPTED. INTERRUPTED.
It makes me want to slap the hell out of bards kiting fate bosses. xD

I really do think that the next tank class will be a gun class/ gunblade class. (Either that will be the gun class or healer ... or both new healer and tank classes will use guns!!!)
Maybe the question shouldn't be "can you even MAKE a ranged tank?". Maybe the question should be "in what ways can you make a tank MORE ranged?". Long range shield lob like skills to pull mobs from far away, skills that are mid range and can set stun/ heavy or anything else that can get aggro and stop a mob from moving in on someone, ranged skills that can use dots to keep aggro, mid ranged AoE skills that can effectively act as a larger CoS/ flash and give the tank a skill that can punt a mob away.
In other words, a tank that can pull aggro from afar and can better use CC and dots to keep aggro.compared to the other 2 classes but can still stand to deal with incoming damage like a tank. But balancing that would be interesting and the fact that most high level stuff strips away half of the cool stuff you learn to do in the class as you level is a problem.
I will never understand the need for a tank to have a gun anything, the armoury system on this game means each weapon can be used for one class, so why waste a great DPS weapon on a tank, it doesn't make sense. A gun/ Gunblade is a weapon that a DPS can use to its fullest, gunblades especially can be used to create some interesting mechanics for DPS, but they would have no use for a tank. It's a waste.
I liked MrHappys' idea for a Samurai tank, giving them an ability that slashes an enemy while jumping through them to the other side, a very useful mechanic for tank swaps.

I think more importantly, they need to release Ninja with another tank or healer class. I don't get the idea of them releasing a DPS only. It will simply snarl the duty finder.
Old Republic experimented with a Tank class using ranged weaponry for a mainhand. It was actually pretty fun. It was convenient for gaining quick threat on distant mobs, but all the bread and butter threat abilities required mid-close range in order to be fully effective. A gunstaff or a bayonet tipped rifle sounds like it would be a lot of fun.I will never understand the need for a tank to have a gun anything, the armoury system on this game means each weapon can be used for one class, so why waste a great DPS weapon on a tank, it doesn't make sense.
