Why do most mounts have severe cataracts?

If you take a look at the mounts, many, many of them seem to have cloudy eyes/cataracts.

None of them really have proper eyes, is there a reason for it? I do not think it makes them look more fantasy or exotic, it just looks like almost all of our mounts are blind.

If you image search cataracts (not going to post them here since some people are squeamish about stuff like that) you will notice that these mount eyes look very, very similar to severe cataracts, even down to the slight glowing sheen that appears on them.

Is there an endemic going on in Eorzea that is causing all of our mounts and animals to become blind?

I never noticed my coeurl was grey eyed... Either there's something wrong with the eye graphics (textures?) on your part, or I've simply been blind to the matter no pun intended!

In the case of the last three, it could be intentional blinding of these creatures to render them docile. Just a thought?

I doubt it. Who'd want to ride a blind horse? Before you know it you're off the cliff!

I had my friend look as well, and cross-referenced it across some pics I googled and it seems that the coeurls do indeed have grey/white cataract eyes

This is most likely intentional as a way of showing they're pacified/docile.

It would be VERY unlikely that they'd make the same mistake for so many mounts.

I just found some wild coeurls and can confirm that they have the same glossy/white look, so it seems to be more like all coeurls have these eyes and not just pacified mounts

Sounds like lazy/bad design to me, just like their love for starved-looking horses (and now wolf...).
