Eyes aren't difficult to model or texture, so it's intentional.
See below;

You're seriously calling, the same group of people, who spent years rebuilding the game and re-releasing it to the public, lazy?
Like some people already said, replacing the texture to have a "proper eye" is not hard at all, so it's definitely intentional, or maybe it has something to do with the lore.
It's definitely part of a design.
I think it is a style choice. Chocobos always had those beady eyes for example.

yea, definitely a style choice, anyone with even a smidge of character modelling experience knows that the eyes are one of the easiest parts to model/texture... nothing to do with laziness.

Their texture is really awfull when you zoom in anyway i hope they will upgrade textures in general....one day.

I'm surprise no one has said this yet so here goes... FIX IT OR I QUIT!!![]()

They also look pretty pumped full of steroids as well.
Maybe this is to a be a lesson, steroid abuse will make you blind

I'm gonna open up a clinic as a veterinary ophthalmologist in the game. I'll make millions, mwhahaha.

I honestly never paid that much attention to their eyes. If it were something that was more prominent and I had to look at all the time, it might bother me more, but as it stands I'm usually zoomed out all the way where it doesn't matter much.
