I'd be interested to see how they will prevent someone from making gil. Seems to me the options are to either buy up another crafters gear or to buy every single material available, at which point said crafter could just go and harvest.

Personally I'd ignore it, continue to sell how you want to and report harassment if they /tell you.

There will always be people who don't care about money/AH as much as others, and therfore undercut. Deal with it, i guess. Bet that's a 10 year old threatening you.

While there have been some "kids nowadays" posts, cartels are a pretty old practice of people being dicks to make more money. Anyways, OP, you should form a counter-cartel which only serves to undercut them. Figure out their retainers on goods, whenever you see those retainers pop up elsewhere make note of it and then organize other crafters in flooding all of their markets and undercutting aggressively because it'll be hilarious. There's no way someone can build a cartel large enough to actually control a server's prices.

Because Gil is serious business in this game. You totally use it for more than repairing, buying food, or finishing your Novus.

Sure Novus can be pricey, but once you finish that, you just sit on your gil with nothing to buy but food for raids. I made a few mil off of growing and selling the chocobo color-changing fruit. Having already finished my Novus, I'm just sitting on it. It only gets used when I need raid food, when I teleport, or when I need to repair.
