So I decided to have a little fun and throw 8 Black Mages into Thornmarch HM...and believe it or not, we actually pulled it off. Whole fight took about 3 minutes.

Edit: Video's ready! Forgive the poopy frame rate and cluttered UI, my computer's not exactly the best and I tend to cram as much as I can onto my hotbars.

I've seen a group do this on my server, never got to join it though. Is it basically Raging Strikes x 16 Flares at the start of the second phase? I imagine all the moogles would melt instantly.

That's the long and short of it, yeah. Then King Mog starts to go after everyone who's not dead yet, and it kinda goes nuts - but even with a few down you should still be able to finish off the king before he takes everyone out.

That would be me and the Desynth linkshell I'm a part of, sorry you haven't been in on one of our runs yet. But I've had it in the PF nightly around 6PM for the last two weeks.

The original strategy for this was released sometime in 2.2 with a video link on reddit, of 7 BLM and 1 healer (which, judging from the video posted here, seems to be much safer, while still getting the same effect.)

However, with desynthesis not being introduced yet, it didn't gain much popularity, because of the lack of any real need for this kind of fight anymore. Then the video was taken down shortly after 2.3, probably to protect Demimog Demimateria price markets.

That all being said: This is an extremely gratifying and fun strategy. My group and I have made a fool-proof rotation that prevents anyone from flaring early. And has led to many successful runs with my Linkshell.
I was actually contemplating posting about it sometime soon, but was told against it to protect the Demimateria market.
