The Point of Personal Housing

So I'm not really thinking about personal housing at all. I've done so much with the FC house and my personal room that I don't want to leave it.

So what exactly is the point of a personal house? Everyone at some point in their play joins an FC, so everyone has access to being able to purchase their own personal rooms (to which many people have already invested a lot of effort into making theirs' look awesome already).

Maybe all we need instead of personal housing is just the ability to be able to log out in our rooms? Like stabilise the server you are coming from so it doesn't load you into a weird space like it did sometimes before.

- to have something for bragging
- to have a house that looks the way you like it and not the way your fc leader like it

Probably many other possible reasons. I have personal chambers but I still will get personal house if I'll be able to afford it.

thats the point of a personal room not a personal House as it is a personal house is just that with the added benefit that you can farm on your own so..... Shouldnt they have just added say a mog planter for the personal rooms to get the same effect?

I would like a place to go to craft/hang out/have friends over that is independent of my FC. My FC is in a small house and plans on moving, so anything that is in the house right now is going to get destroyed when we move.

I know a lot of other FC's in small/medium houses who want to move to large.

Really the only people with 'secure' housing that can go all out are people in FCs that have large houses and really love their FC.

A personal house will be mine, and only mine. It will not depend on my FC relations, my FC master, or anyone else. If I want to go out and buy that purification module I can do so without the fear of losing 1mil-2mil gil.

I can also have house parties.

Needless to say I am pretty excited about it.

Oh, and on a last note, due to the land rush on servers, many new FCs do not have houses at all, there is literally no land. Many people cannot dye their chocos or garden or anything else since their FC literally has no way of obtaining any sized house.

The foremost reason for our FC to own personal housing is the ability to do gardening. Our FC is very small and one garden plot does not even begin to fulfill all of the things people want to do. Since gardening is used for a lot of new content, this makes things very difficult on deciding what to grow. Plants for pets, choco color food or training food, etc. And since the maturation of a lot of the plants take so long, it becomes problematic. I cannot even imagine the headaches for large free companies.

Your reasoning is fair, just wanted to let you know though, when your FC moves, many of the housing items they placed inside can be picked up, and placed back in the new house. As, ANYONE who has furnishing access's can pick up the items, place them in their inventory and move them into your new home (same can be down with items from your personal rooms to the FC house now for example). So unless the item gives you the 'warning this item will be destroyed if removed' message, you can move it when you move and/or move it from the main house to someone's personal room right now.

My FC mates and I all use the '3rd page' of the FC chest to share and pass housing items back and forth that we for whatever reason don't want in our rooms/the house anymore. So that couch you placed in your room, you now wish to get rid of so you have room for a desk? NP. You can put in in the FC chest and anyone else w/ access can pick it up and place it in their room or the FC house without worrying about the whole 'bound' thing.

Some players are in solo FCs and it'll be cheaper to buy personal housing if they don't prefer the sizing of FC housing.
If gardening is allowed, that's going to be the biggest reason I'll get a personal house even though I have a personal room in my 3-man FC's house.

Players may also not want to buy a room in their FC housing in case they may leave at some point and possibly lose millions of gil worth of furniture, since some of it can't be removed.

I have been saving up my personal fortune to buy a Solo FC mansion. Now that i have enough money to buy the Large i'm somewhat at a crossroads.

Do i wait for 2.38 to implement new wards/personal housing to make my decision and risk FC housing prices going back up?

Will there be multiple sizes of Personal housing? Are FC's required to purchase a personal house? How will the pricing be? These are all questions that lead me to think waiting is the better bet.

I'd also like to get your opinions on weather or not purchasing a Large house would be worthwhile. I hear alot of stories of FC's upgrading from smalls and mediums to larges. What are the main reasons for this? Are there any players who regret purchasing the Large? any advice appreciated!

It seems to me that you are in the world with free plots. In my world all plots are occupied.

Just because you prefer and like the idea of FC Housing, doesn't mean personal housing is a bad idea.

Some people simply like the idea of having their own personal space in an MMO. Much like real life -- you could get an apartment or house with a couple of roommates, but why do that when you can get your own apartment or house? Much like what Adler says, your FC House, decorations and garden are pretty much pretty much at the whim of your FC leader, who may or may not be a nice and/or good designer.

It's also good in the way that FC Housing will decline slightly, allowing for more readily available land.
