I'd also like to point out that there is also the chance of an HQ-like result as well. One other person here was doing the same as my husband and feeding Berries from the start, and stopping after the first "new feathers" each time.>>> So, starting from Desert Yellow, no matter how many Berries you give your choco, if you stop after the first "New Feathers" (not Plumage, New Feathers, they're different messages!), your chocobo will switch to Ui Brown. Then, from Ui Brown, feeding berries until you get the "New Feathers" message means your choco will switch to Aldgoat Brown.
Hubby's result Desert Yellow>UI Brown>Aldgoat Brown>Shale Brown
Other's result Desert Yellow>Cork Brown>UI Brown>Gobbiebag Brown>Aldgoat Brown>Shale Brown
Also seen Royal Blue + Apple = Abyssal Blue or Regal Purple
And Desert Yellow + Plum = Cream Yellow or Sylph Green
Prediction:
Desert Yellow (D) 215 183 87 0 0 0
Ul Brown 3 183 167 119 32 16 -32
Gobbiebag Brown 4 183 167 135 0 0 -16
Shale Brown 2 151 135 103 32 32 32
Goobbue Grey 1 135 135 135 16 0 -32
***Lilac Purple 3 135 103 103 0 32 32
I hope it's this and not randomly picking one of three per step.I'd also like to point out that there is also the chance of an HQ-like result as well. One other person here was doing the same as my husband and feeding Berries from the start, and stopping after the first "new feathers" each time.

Finished my 7th stage.
Started with Dalamud Red, fed Berries (17) until one "new feathers" message popped, and that resulted in Rolanberry Red.
Not sure if I'll do berries again.. 17 Berries was starting to stretch it a bit. I was not expecting to use that many.
My Old Post with all my stages on it.
Little recap.
Nothing but Apples - Desert Yellow > Millicorn Yellow > Pumpkin Orange > Sunset Orange > Blood Red
Berries from then on - Blood Red(+40Apples) > Dalamud Red > Rolanberry Red.

Needs confirmation without the apple use. I'll do it eventually if no one else does.
Just an FYI. From my experience waiting between fruit does absolutely nothing. I've waited 5-8min between fruit and did not see it after. I have waited 2 1/2 hours and didn't see it until the 5th fruit after.I've skimmed these threads and not seen this mentioned anywhere...but there's a LOT of posts, so forgive me if I'm repeating something known/debunked here. The whole "plumage will change" message does not seem to be random at all. It's just a matter of waiting 1 real time minute before feeding them the next fruit. When I just shoveled the fruit into my chocobo as fast as I could, I never got any message past the initial one until 1 minute had passed. So far, I've been waiting at least 1 minute and have yet to not see the message pop each time I feed a fruit. Again, this seems so obvious I imagine it's already been played around with, but if not, there it is.
To whoever controls the spreadsheet :
You need to put more strict rules on data gathering.
The first "proc" message saying new feathers will grow just mean the chocobo will change color, not that the previous fruits were uneffective (just were not enough). But the following "proc" messages in the same feed are NOT valuable info ! They are just saying after feeding again, color would still change (you can go back with multi fruit feeds).
If you want to truly have serious experiments, you need to WAIT 6H after the first "proc" message before doing anything else, and report color change and fruits fed (which fruits, number, order even if I doubt it matters in most of the cases, etc).
If you don't apply these experiment rules, the spreadsheet is not better than the previous one you were disproving ^^
It requires a lot of patience though, but it'll bear the most valuable information we can get to map the square-enix wheel of colors and the effect of fruits on it.

Calculations are based on x5-15 feeds of one fruit, combined with people's multi feeding with several different fruits. Since they give slightly different numbers I've adjusted the single ones, doing a mixture between mix feeding numbers and single fruit feeding numbers.
Basically if a number is showing 5,5 it means the numbers I got was 5 and 6.
So far it's been pretty accurate, but it's not 100%.
The game does seem to pick the color you are closets to, but also depending on what kind of fruit you fed it.
