I agree with this, but at the same time I have stories where that one experienced player that pushed a little more DPS, or handled a mechanic better than the rest of us, made the difference between a wipe and a clear. Isn't it better to help some than none at all?

Since you mentioned that you are working on T5, then you might be interested to know that all the fights in second coil are similar to T5 in mechanics in that they all have 1 shot kill mechanics. Everyone needs to be equally adept at handling all the mechanics and knowing what to do in certain situations. Using t5 as an example, even if you have 6 experienced and 2 inexperienced players, if 1 of the 2 gets divebomb and does not know how to react, he will most probably knock everyone into the wall and die, even those who are experienced. You can't just hope that the mechanic targets the one or two players that are experienced so that they can deal with everything. Even if you get a clear that way, its by luck and I don't think the group deserves the win. As for dps checks, if your group is not meeting the dps checks, then the problem lies with the group and getting someone in to deal that additional dps is akin to a carry isn't it?
Look I get what you are saying. It's just that there are pros and cons to both sides and at the moment, it feels like the issue of selling runs and carrying others is a bigger issue imo. The worst thing that can happen to new content is that it gets blown through too quickly, and if the system gives off the perception that "Why should I work so hard when I can just join groups that have cleared it", it would be a loss of motivation for many people.
