Not to mention the ever foreboding and infinitely long "server adjustments"... When are those happening? Is anyone even working on it right now or is it just a future plan? Why is so much held back because of these "adjustments" we still know nothing about? And why the hell are they taking so long if they're so damn important?
First of all, the 'light content' isn't the only thing that took 3+ months to get in the game.

Second of all, the problem with this thread is the community has the misguided assumption that they work load is being handled CONSECUTIVELY when in actuality it's being worked on CONCURRENTLY. What I mean by this is, the team hasn't been SOLELY working on patch 1.18. Yoshi-P has come out and flat said that he has the Devs broken up in teams. 1 Team is responsible for Dungeons and 1 team is responsible for the Ifrit Battle (Slated for 1.19) but they are working on them at the same time. So as teams free up after work is completed, they will either be allocated to other teams (I.E. the Ifrit Battle) team or formed into a new team (Working on AF gear). Everything that was on Yoshi's latest list is what they are CURRENTLY working on. This means that each item either has 1 team, or 1 team has multiple items.

Because they have been working on the list CONCURRENTLY we shouldn't be waiting 3+ months for 1.19 and 1.20.

hard to see how the rest of the teams can work when the foundations are ever changing and not settled in yet. They should put all staf working on that and work from there.

I had something happened at work really similar to this last week.
Problem arise, you get everyone who is not in a critical position to help solving the main problem, once that is done they can carry on with regular duties.

having people working on thins for later patches at this point is a bit presumptuous , thinking of how much weight this next patch holds.

Of course they need people who have a clue of the subject at hand so perhaps getting people from other departments would be a bad idea, so if patches and fixes are taking this long is because they are, in fact understaffed.

the game is ready to make a come back now, or throw in the towel imo.

I don't know where you work, but unless you work for a video game company that is producing an ever changing MMO, the experience is not relative. Sorry. Every field is different and you don't have 1 sure-fire method that will work for every single industry across the board.

The foundation of this game is not "ever changing" as you put it, it is fluctuating now because Yoshi felt it necessary. If they did what you proposed and waited to start any new content then yes, we wouldn't be getting anything until December or beyond. I say this because Yoshi told us that it takes about 6 months (I think I am remembering that correctly) to create new content from scratch. If he had his whole team working on nothing but Battle Fixes and Class fixes, they wouldn't have started building content for us until now.

Instead, having teams that work on content all at the same time ensures that we have content that can be released on a monthly or semi-monthly basis.

They probably have an internal memo of their personal time table and direction, and cut off points.

That's what YoshiP signed on for, and he has hinted "end of summer". We'll see what comes of it at that point.

Class system is changing , combat is changing , guild leves are changing, all the basics are changing. I didnt said ever changing , i said as of it is now they are scratching most of the basics.starting with stamina and AA.

So unless they have everything down as to what is going to be (and they dont) looking to far ahead right now is a big waste of time and resources. We will see in 3 days just how much they got done for 1.18.

But maybe it was a mistranslation or a language confusion, so I will drop it here.

The major thing I meant in my post is, if the Dev Team had focused ONLY on system adjustments, we wouldn't have seen content until December at the earliest.

I mean to say as it is now, but well you get the point.
Anyways, i could live happily with waiting with good foundations and a solid system ,the current system is crap, no guarantees the new system will be better, so working ahead in crucial moments is a bit senseless to me.

Is like worrying about the return trip when you are almost at the bottom of the sea on the way there.

The problem is, if people had nothing to do in the game for any longer, the game would be beyond saving. Fixing the systems alone is not enough.

Does not hurt them to loose people now that is F2P actually.Thinking otherwise is just selfish from the people who do play now (sorry if this offend anyone). The game needs more players to be actually succesfull when they DO start charging.

I in fact dont play anymore but not matter what content they add if the foundations stay the same i wont be returning.
I see what your saying , i just dont agree with it.Hopefully 1.18 at the very least fix the mayor problems with battle and such.

When i did use to play i shared your opinion , but now as a by stander i have a different opinion. They need more people and those who stoped playing to come back. I dont think 2 months worth of content is gonna make a big diference.

Is my opinion anyways. That so called "Potential" that was in fact the biggest thin in ffxiv is fading away as we speak.

With less then 25,000 active players...I would say the lost isn't really that great.

Though it's the path they choose, so it's not really the issue anymore.
