You don't say... I hope you realize this game was made with the intention of running it on the PS since it's focused on the Japanese Market as well and many japanese players don't use/have a PC.
No, they're necessary so players don't go out of bounds or get stuck in spots and require GM assistance to get out of and despite what people want to believe, there's nothing beyond the path you're meant to take - also some 'invisible barriers' are just part of the level design and you're just simply not going to be able to climb it..I can't climb every hill or wall I see in Last of Us for example. As an aside, let me ask a question for those who seem to think ARR is perfect:
Which FF game could you not use Phoenix Down or Phoenix down like items in battles? Is that just the "balance" that gets thrown around a lot?
Most if not the grand majority of the JP gaming base has a computer - many don't use it for 'serious' gaming though. Portables and Mobile gaming is the main market there now.
You are not alone my friend
Since 1.0 BETA we discuss with them about Element attacks...
You know, killing a Bomber with fire seems a bit odd
They have 2 points why not doing it:
1) It will weaken some jobs, because BLM as examples just can use 3 Elements and they do not like that Content excludes any jobs (BLM less effective).
2) Each job can do "same" damage and you have freedome to play which job you like best and not be forced to play a specific job because the Boss is weak against that element.
Its an very old discussion and still SE refuse to listen...
The problem is, some very good topics in Alpha and Beta forums are not visible any more...
But to be honest: they have some good points, still i like the strategical thing with element wheel much better!
Edit: One old solution - We have element Materia, why not using on weapon to change our spells and attacks? Its similar to FFVII...

I'd say it was more of a gimmick to draw the attention of those that left or those that have heard its bad publicity. You woulld be more inclined to try the game again if you hear its new instead of being "patched"
Going "Out of Bounds" is a okayish excuse if the invisible wall is on the edge of the map, but not being able to climb a small stone formation in the middle of the map or jump over a railing is just... No.No, they're necessary so players don't go out of bounds or get stuck in spots and require GM assistance to get out of and despite what people want to believe, there's nothing beyond the path you're meant to take - also some 'invisible barriers' are just part of the level design and you're just simply not going to be able to climb it..I can't climb every hill or wall I see in Last of Us for example.
Getting stuck in spots can be solved with using teleport (or return, if you don't want to spent the money) and is a risk every explorer knows, so that really is no counter-argument.
I don't claim to know the JP gaming base, but from what I've read in these forums so far, a major argument for the PS support have been the japanese players.
There were also just more invisible walls (mostly in form of a 30 cm heigh cliff) during the 1.0 PC version ^^
Its a beautiful game, but encounter design is shallow and lacks depth as a result of using cookie cutter holy trinity. They've pulled out the usual gimmicks like really complex rotations on some jobs to try to make up for the loss of strategy, but just like the games it borrows from it can never make up for that loss of depth. While I love each class/job individually, none are capable of holding my interest in the long term after I've mastered the basics of their rotations because there are few choices to be made in combat and none drastically effect the strategy employed to defeat bosses. The bosses in some of the new dungeons are best defeated by having the tank give up his tanking bonus for an offensive one, but in most good RPGs that is part of the basic function of a tank (bosses in good RPGs shift form from offense to defense regularly during combat, and tanks respond by shifting from defense to offense to take advantage of openings).

I get not spoiling content, and working together with friends to figure out fights and take them down. I prefer it. I prefer pushing progression when it first comes out. (When here are no guides available . . .) But to Yoninxi's comment, there are plenty of people who complain about the content that's out there who can't clear it, but refuse to watch videos.
Your arguing with him is a perfect example. I see that you haven't even defeated Turn 5 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...nt/category/4/
Again, I get why people would like to discover fights for themselves. If you don't have a friend pool to pull from however, and work on the content with you, then everybody else prefers you familiarize yourself with what you are doing, so they don't need to take half the time to explain the fight to you, and they don't wipe to content repeatedly that they are all able to one-shot.
My Point : Your argument is valid on an individual level, if you are otherwise not complaining about having a hard time with content. Otherwise, your unwillingness to look at guides / videos is very likely correlated to the fact that you haven't cleared the content available in this game 9 months ago, let alone the content that has been released since then.
Can people please stop trying to disguise their "I want to whine and complain" threads as "I'm interested in what the community thinks" threads?
