    Sound familiar? (ARR.)

As mentioned, the elemental wheel had to go because you'd otherwise make BLMs useless in several encounters. They'd get sat out on Ifrit and Ramuh, for example.
Hm..not really. They'd only have to sit out if Fire remained their only source of main damage. If you've forgotten BLM had access to all main elements throughout the majority of the series including XI, the issue is the elemental wheel didn't fit in the limited design because you'd really be ignoring the obvious if you don't think class favoritism doesn't exist now

Iirc, when it was revealed, people were expecting an actual LOG. A bestiary that players can fill for themselves and fill out the details automatically as they keep slaying the mobs and finding out their details (HP, drops, skills used, weakness, etc). At least that's what me and a few others thought it would be when we talked about it. Of course, when we found it's basically what it is now, it's a disappointment. It's just like hunts, ask for an apple, you'd think that the one who wants to give it to us would know that we'd want a fresh apple, not a rotting one (just plain common sense); which makes me think people who keeps saying "you asked for it!!!" at people who are disappointed with how hunts turned out to be a bit nuts.

That would actually make more sense and fit into a true RPG Genre game as well, sad it wasn't made like this.

Something I am really disappointed about is the lack of the "Elemental Wheel", as people call it. I really thought that elemental damage would play a role in a FF game, but was very disappointed to see it did not.

I really think games like this call themselves "RPG" without really ever scratching the surface of that RPG really means and it makes me sad.

Honestly, after reviewing FFXI, since it added ilvls to that game, it pretty much is exactly like XIV but with more content to do. Its sad a game thought to be in its downfall looks similar to a game starting its life

I'm using my absence from the game to dig through my horrendous backlog. currently getting hooked on bravely default which I feel is in some ways a much deeper rpg experience than XIV (although bd has a lot of issues of its own).

I hope they will turn the game around once more to make stuff more accessible no matter how much the beloved self-proclaimed "hardcore" guys scream, because that's what gets me hooked - clearing stuff alone or with friends/fc, not staring at the things I could do IF *insert bogus mechanics or lockouts here*. logging in to just to grind hours away is neither fun nor rewarding - at least that's my conclusion for now after getting my first three star crafter and being halfway through novus a month ago.

The game I played before ARR had a true Elemental Table, with holy (heal) doing damage to undead monsters, and real elemental damage ranged from 1 to 4, with 1 doing the least and 4 doing the most bonus damage.

It CAN be done, if you want to.

    I would like to disagree.

I am hardly someone you would describe as a hardcore player, but I like the concept of stuff being rewarded only to certain people, IF it is done right.

For example something like titles given only to people who can clear certain hardmode content - if said content is not relevant to endgame progression, that is.

Time/Grind gates are stupid and they are used way too much in "modern" games, which really is sad.

Gettings items/titles/minions/stuff in general should be a matter of skill - not time.

If I'm not good enough to achieve something, I have to spend time getting better and eventually make it - Not do something 10000000 times because 0,1% screw you.

In old games, you died - many times over - doing something until you did it right, nowadays people expect fights to be won the first time, if not max. the second time - god beware if you die more than twice on a boss fight/quest.

If you like clearing "stuff alone", maybe you should revisit the purpose of a true - and I mean TRUE - MMO, because soloing stuff is not part of that.

They made a beautiful game as far as scenery and characters and its a pleasure to explore...till you come to the river you cant cross or the hill you can't climb. It just seems so small. Sorta like playing baseball on a devil strip. I don't think any expansions or content will bring the 'big wide world' feel to this game. (server load or something like that)

The invisible walls, which I also hate to death, are limitations necessary for the PS support.
