But I'm not sure if it can be a friend who already HAS an account and can add the code or if it has to be a new account with no characters on it. Like a fresh account. I'm guessing it is a brand new account of someone who has never played before, but I could be wrong. Would be nice if they could clarify this, seeing it would be nice for my friend and I to get this stuff, but she's been playing almost a year now so I doubt SE will count it.

I'm under the impression it's baby account only. As only a budding adventurer can affect the use of the pendant. I'm planning to test this out later.

Admittedly it is vague especially...

"When your friend receives your message with the enclosed recruitment code, have them create a Square Enix account if they have yet to do so, then register the recruitment code via the Mog Station.

Both you and your friend will receive exclusive recruitment rewards based on your friend's number of accumulated subscription days."

So either it works on an active account or an account freshly created w/no FFXIV info registered yet.


"So, existing accounts that have an FFXIV game code registered to it will have the "Enter Friend Code" button as long as no additional time has been paid on it. That means accounts still within the "free 30 days from the game purchase" are eligible, since the subscription doesn't start until that's done. If a time card is used, no more "Enter Friend Code" button."
