Still sort of considering that this could be a troll post, but whatever. What you described is almost exactly what the system was in FFXIV 1.0 and it was terrible. I don't think you understand the scale involved. Even with the lower population of 1.0 compared to 2.0 and the fact that players had a single retainer, the market areas (each city had one) were flooded and it was difficult to find the item you wanted, nevermind a good deal. They had various wards for different types of products, but it did you no good if you sold more than 1 kind of thing (eg. food and armor, weapons and materia, crystals and ore, etc.).

It was a ridiculous mess that made lots of people not even bother trying to sell things. A lot of the time you couldn't even get your retainer into an area to sell because it was full. I can appreciate that it might sound like a good idea, but in practice it's horrible.

In my honest nooby opinion. It should be like in some games, where there are shops in the cities and you have to take your time checking if you want to buy something cheap, or just go to the next shop and buy. Yes, maybe a bit laggy for the citty? then implement a map called the Central Eorzea Market Square or something like that where all merchants of all Eorzea gather and sell their stuff...

We had this at 1.0 launch. It was horrible. You spent hours to find the item you wanted and another hours to find it in another shop for price check. It got better with a search system that marked the retainers with the item you want.

Well. I kind of enjoyed that of checking markets and having to find the item instead of just automatically search for it and find it... Maybe a matter of tastes there, It felt like a more alive market in the last game I played with that system, in the video it seemed awesome in my opinion. So you have to go and check shops, not just write "Hey, I want this, Oh, this is the cheaper? thanks" you had to spend a little of time for search, and if you wanted to see the best prices, have more time or a hawk eye.

It was real trading and market for me.... But well, If it was in 1.0 and they changed it I doubt they'd revive it anymore, sigh....

Not really being a forum police, but more like a reminder. It's just a way to inform people to think before posting as it keeps the forums more organized which is helpful for the players and the devs. Unless you prefer people post random topics in random sub forums, not being able to find threads you're looking for.

Nope. If there is current quantity & a lot of recent activity, I still set my AH prices lower than the last sold price. I would rather have my product sell fast & first.

My word, somebody calling for reform because he was undercut by 200g. Don't start desynthesis or you'd end up hanging yourself... I regularly wake up to find I've been undercut by two hundred thousand gil...

Been undercut by 500K because some guy couldn't WAIT to sell their things lol. Sadly, that wasn't an exaggeration, it went from 800K to 300K > >

Actually, nope, but go ahead & buy off the last price. You're wasting gil. I undercut all the time AND pay less listing fees while still getting full or close to that sell price. I sell first & pay less. That's a win-win.
