Dev please change market board

The good thing about this - you can see who's trying to destroy markets by 'massively undercutting for zero reason other than to destroy a market.

I'm sorry but there is still nothing good about this whatsoever except for community grief and/or personal attacks. What can you hope to accomplish by knowing this information? You can't forcibly stop the person from selling said item at whatever price they want. You can't report them for selling something at a low price, but you can possibly get yourself reported by being tempted to ruffle some feathers and sending personal attacks. Hell if they are doing it "just to destroy the market with zero reason" then they are probably a massive troll and you will just help them get their rocks off if you say anything to them.


Markets will stabilize, anyway. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have seen Savage Aim 3 materia being sold for less than 5k per piece, and the next day it going for upwards of 40k per piece. "Market destruction" is rarely permanent. I refer back to the 2nd quote of my 1st post in this thread.


And what if you make, say, a Tidal/Levin barding or a crafting station for someone and they tip you well, but then "destroy" the market because they got all the expensive mats via retainer/gardening? No one is going to know that retainer isn't yours, they are just going to see the crafter name on the item itself. Now someone is destroying the market and your name at the same time.


Sorry, I just don't like that aspect of the MB. I love seeing people walking around in gear I made, it's almost like walking advertisements I just don't see any upside to showing crafter's name on the MB.

While there might be better systems, prices going up and down is really a matter of supply and demand. I see this very much with materia and crafting mats that drop in dungeons (and can be bought with GC seals). I see prices move around a lot, with an ebb and flow to supply and demand.

Say potash is running at 10k and some fool rushes in and posts one at 8k. If there is more demand than supply it doesn't matter. That 8k posting gets bought, then the 10k ones, then we're up to the going price of 12k. People notice this and crafters start slowing down their purchases and other players rush to their GC to convert those dungeon armour drops. Supply begins to outstrip demand and people worried about their product not moving start dropping prices. Eventually we're back to 8k and the cycle continues.

I'm so tired of how market board works people being able to see your price listen every 1-5 minutes someone undercutting you driving price even lower. Example is Mahi Mahi place up 2k some ass sides to undercut by 1000 placing it to 800. So for weeks my stuff won't sell unless I go lower become the new price. So please Dev change it! I tired of undercutting of this level

More seriously... not that the MB couldn't be improved but decreasing transparency and pricelocks aren't the solution.

Know your markets. Do your homework. I pull in quite a bit of money from them even after pricewars. Example/free advice: Some markets, buyers pick up huge batches. So I can list something 20~30k above the lowest entry (or more) and it will still sell. Player peak times play a role in every market. Learn the tendencies of the markets you have a stake in, or would like to have a stake in, and you can rake in the gil.

You will get much better information as to why the MB is not broken and etc there. Just like you will get much better indepth information about tanking and etc in the tanking forums compared to posting in the general forums.

As for the OP,The markets are just more competitive because everyone is able to compete fairly in the markets.

Disagree. There are more eyes in the general forum, therefore quicker replies. But there's always "that guy" that has to quip "thish ish not the correct forum for thish topic, psshak'" or "this topic has been discussed in the following 12 links over the past year."

Just like you will get much better indepth information about tanking and etc in the tanking forums compared to posting in the general forums.

Check the sell history. How is the demand? How many Mahi Mahi get sold in a day? If it is many Mahi Mahi and you are not too much down in the price list, keep your old price.

You don't have to be the lowest price on the board. You don't have to sell first. If ten items are selling per day, and your price is in the top ten, then you are fine. If enough new items are being put up per day that your item gets forced out of the X per day sales, you need to understand that the market for that item is collapsing - too many are being put up for sale, and not enough people are buying. Either save your item and sell later when the market is more stable, or accept your losses and sell at a huge discount to get it out of your hands.

I also don't like having my name shown on everything I craft.

This is really the only thing I don't like about the MB. I've had people /tell me saying that my prices are too high for certain items and chastising me for 'taking advantage of having the only item of its type on the MB'. I realize I can just blist the person, but it would be convenient if the crafter's name just wasn't visible until the purchase had been made. That way they can't troll someone pre-purchase to try and lower the price and flame them when they say no :\
