I'm a bit confused, but does the friend have to be on a new account? Or can it be a currently inactive friend who wants to play again?

EDIT: I'm asking because it says 'In order to receive bonus items, your friend must register for FINAL FANTASY XIV using the recruitment code generated by your service account'

But a guy from reddit said he used his alt account that was never subbed (only the free 30 days)
