the fact is that it won't be just a 1 time thing. Once someone gets married, in the game, they usually flaunt it like they would in real life. My analogy pertains to this more than yours. Yours involves the wedding, mine involves the after effect. If a wedding system is implemented at all, it will split the people in half. If they make it same sex, a lot of straight people are going to be disgusted, but if they make it only for straight couples, the homosexuals will be offended...which is nothing new. Not to knock anyone or anything...but I have yet to see 1 homosexual guy that wasn't a complete pud and is offended by everything -.-

XIV wouldn't be the first game to include same-sex marriages and none of the MMOs that have ever had an after effect (wth?) as dramatic as you make it sound. There hasn't been pitchforks and torches happening in those games, people didn't mass leave in disgust....

It's a simple matter of human rights and nothing else. It's equality for all that's the matter. The ones getting disgusted should learn to accept it much like they've learnt to let go of racial segregation, religious persecutions or accept and obey the disability rights laws.

On this particular topic is: We all get a chance to marry whomever we want or none of us get marriages. By not wanting to accept people being different, and opting for the no marriage at all option, is what, giving up a possibility that I could also marry a girl I like in game? Just cause someone has an issue with something which should be granted to you at your birth.

XIV marriages aren't even that important, but people want this option cause it's fun, for them. Like Chocobos, or housing or having a barber shop is fun for others. And just like those other things, they want to be able to enjoy it, if it gets implemented into the game, but not by being forced to marry the opposite-sex if only those couples are supported.
