dunno, I think it would be the same as it is now, meaning you'll have to do countless of times the dungeon till you get the piece you want...
still, it's an improvement form having crafting material for the entire dungeon xD
Did you see my badge? I'm a professional!
Maybe SE should look at doing this strategically... Tank and healer pieces only drop from the final boss, DD pieces can drop from first and second bosses. DDs are easily replaced, but if a tank or healer drops a group could be looking at a half-hour wait for a replacement...
Or, if we want a more radical solution, make it so that all treasure drops are given a temporary status condition - let's call it "ephemeral". Ephemeral items can be equipped just like normal items, but disappear once you leave the dungeon. The only way to remove the ephemeral status is to complete the dungeon you obtained the item from. Ephemeral status can apply to both equipment items and inventory items (such as Sands of Time).
The upside of this is that it cuts down on dungeon jumpers. The downside is that it punishes folks who legitimately suffer an unwanted disconnect after getting something nice, and opens up HORRIFYING new ways to abuse the kick function ("The three of you better not lot that Oil, or me and my four friends who queued up together for ST will kick you as soon as you win - either way you don't get the Oil and you lose your one drop for the week to boot.")
But, they aren't "Vanity pieces". They are actual useable gear to be used by players that need them. I think what is what SE has done is implemented an iLVL check upon entering. Check returns i90+, oh yea, all you gets is fats and cokes!
If, by some miracle of RNGeesus, a tank piece drops I ask if anyone needs it for their tank. If yes then I pass. If no I need it. If they state they are looking for it for vanity I greed it.
As said in many a thread, gear should drop from bosses only, keep the mats to side chests.
Huh, pretty sucky behaviour on the part of your friend, abusing the DF like that.

The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
Trust me, it's not just you :/ I do at least 6-7 ST runs a day and it takes almost the whole week to see a piece of blm gear drop. Worst part? I lose it to the guy who's wearing i100 or higher already -.-
But if I come drg or mnk, gear would be raining down upon me lol
I've requested to be kicked from Tam Tara HM. One of the DPS characters were lagging supposedly every time they died in the last boss. After the third time I was fed up and said they could leave so we could find a dps to finish the dungeon or kick me out. Can call it ragequitting if you want but I don't have all day to spend in 1 dungeon because someone else is having connection issues.
I shouldn't take a penalty for someone else having a crappy connection. I pay for a worthwhile connection, they can too.
I will instantly quit dungeon if my LS announces an S rank hunt pop. Probably caused some WTFs, but at least I am a dps and instantly replaced. Yes it is selfish, call me an a-hole.
People wouldn't be quitting after the first boss though, leaving the other 3 people stranded. This is another lesson that SE could have learned from other games that already went through these growing pains.
