Mmos stopped being a virtual world a long time ago theres no immersion anymore. Lazy people got rid of that concept a long time ago.

A lot of the quests are like "escort this wagon to "blah blah blah" and im thinking "why the hell don't you just teleport"? Then you teleport over there and they're like "thanks for the escort"!

    ...*sigh*

Well the teleport is because canonically, only a few can teleport due to it being quite taxing thus only adventurers and people of equal strength can do it.

But yeah it is somewhat stupid to teleport and they are still acting like you walked with them >_>

Removing a cconvenience is a negative. It would leave a nasty afferaffect within the playerbase, you don't make such an overreaching change to practically all aspects of the game because one part of it is flawed, aka hunts.

You can only explore something once, after it becomes the norm. Running the same paths every day back and forth is, as others have stated, time you are not playing the game. You don't care about the scenery because you have already seen it before the first time you went through. Then it just becomes repetition, and repetition leads to boredome, theres enough of that already with having to run the same dungeons every day. No need to add to it with a pointless auto run between point A and B.

FFXI, where everyone utilized teleports whenever possible, even if they had to pay for it. Or, practically, invulnerable chocobos to totally bypass any danger. Don't believe that everyone walked everywhere avoiding danger in FFXI, because they didn't whenever they didn't need to. Instead of giving the ability to teleport to a select few jobs, they made it accesible to everyone in 14.

I've read the OP, and I'll give a simple answer as I don't wanna bother with 27 pages of responses.

    No. Just no.

That's it. It's not gonna happen no matter what your justification is.
I was one of those people who walked into dangerous areas in FFXI and EQ1 and all those games. One or two times it's thrilling. Thirty or forty times it's tedious.
Here's a hint: If even the original design team of FFXIV thought a convenience was worth having, it's probably a good idea. This is the same team that thought using levequests to level up was a good idea, so if even THEY realize something is tedious, it probably is.

If you wanna talk about doing things over and over again... here we go:

That's just the main storyline.... it's littered with pointless trash quests that you literally have to go back and forth for.

That's not even counting the 441 trash quests that already litter the world where half of them are just: "Walk two feet or to the next town and give this or talk to this guy for me and return". That is over 500 trash quests that are tedious and quiet boring really. None of them have any substance, yet you think they are trying to add convience and try to get rid of tedium? That must be a joke... right?

If that's not enough tedium for ya... How about we go and do our weeklies Coil, CT, Primals..... how many times have you done those... lets see it was released in august so most people have done them at least 120 times by now, probably even more.

Can I please make in a request to just get the gear I want with one or two fights because anything after that is just too much.... I mean, you let other people skip other tedious things.

How many trash mobs are in dungeons that you run? TONS, they are pointless and just kinda slow you down. The only real challenge are the boss fights, so maybe they should just eliminate that tedious task of killing trash mobs.

What I'm getting at is, they did a poor design on this game if you don't want to repeat things. There is no quality in the open world, the quest system is one of the worst I've seen. None of them have any weight to them.... I guess I can see why they let you teleport so much now.... you have to get through all the other tedious trash.

Never mind, keep teleport how it is.

I agree with you with the trash, it's pointless and kinda sad that the whole dungeon is turned into a "RUN TO THE BOSS" thing. Do I still do it? Yes, but I'd like things to actually have meaning and wouldn't mind a duty taking longer. There is a reason such a large timer is given to complete it.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:

These quests are not pointless. They appear to be carefully crafted to introduce you to level appropriate areas & show you the geography of the land. It's one of the features of this game that struck me as very well thought out when I first started playing.

Interesting that you have the opposite view...

Frankly, when you're end game, gil cost to travel isn't really daunting, but when you're just starting out, it looks like a lot of money and not spending money is much better. As I was leveling I would use Mount to travel most of the time to save money. The system is set like it is so that starter characters will actually travel the world to get where they need to go instead of teleporting everywhere. You could make it more expensive to deter the practice maybe but you can't go back to 1.0 now. Many people left the game because of how restrictive the system was. For players that stuck with it and still stick with it, power to you. For players that leave because of the changes, that's a person's decision. If they don't find it enjoyable anymore, you're free to find other forms of entertainment.

Man... I can't imagine how frustrating this game would be without teleport. =D I have 3 or so hours a night to play, and can usually get a good few things accomplished in that time. If they removed teleport, it would quickly be reduced to maybe 1-2 tasks a night. I'd spend more time traveling to my quests than actually doing the quests.

Wow. Yea, I actually like this thread, because it's made me stop and really appreciate how good we have it compared to how awful it could be.
