Red my other posts in this thread, I played 1.0 and I'm 100% for bringing back anima.I can also accept this Dannythm. However, it was the same exact case in 1.0. Except those of us who had the ability to travel through teleportation had a thing called "Anima" that needed to be recharged over time due to "fatigue" of teleporting this way. Now we just pay gil to endlessly teleport.
Whoever said that doesn't know about game design, and I don't care how successful he is, because as far as I know exploring is gameplay, and games such as, Myst, Dark/Demon Souls, Elders Scrolls and Fallout, any Sandobx and many more (most RPG's ever) prove that walking and exploring is a really important part of the experience.
It goes well with the whole new player friendly approach Yoshi decided to add to the game, it seems that he thought having to manage anima could stress some players, and as everything else he thought it could stress players, it got removed.
I wish there was more immersion in traveling like in FFXI but I also remember how excruciating it was trying to go back and forth for mundane tasks.
I think the middle ground is to just make teleports more expensive for the expanded areas in 3.0
anyways, I do understand decision behind changing anima to gil for gil sinks.
Still, if I wanna choose, I rather have anima system back myself. All the time I play 1.0 & ARR making me realize that gils are more wasted in ARR than 1.0.
Won't ever happen. Teleports have been around since the launch of FFXIV v1.0, but instead of gil it used the Anima system.
You should do more quests, I guessTedium? Isn't it part of an RPG to TRAVERSE these worlds? All the work the team put into these lands...all the detail in the remote places...and they're skipped 80% of the time because people just want to constantly teleport. This is literally why the sightseeing log was implemented. And yes, to each their own, but I just feel that I explored XI more than I do in XIV, even when I decide to walk. But what can you do.
Or play more DoL classes

Are you kidding? It's not "exploring" when you've been in the area before, walking just the same damn path to get from A to B that you already walked the first time in order to attune with the Aetheryte in the first place, so you could teleport there the next time.Whoever said that doesn't know about game design, and I don't care how successful he is, because as far as I know exploring is gameplay, and games such as, Myst, Dark/Demon Souls, Elders Scrolls and Fallout, any Sandobx and many more (most RPG's ever) prove that walking and exploring is a really important part of the experience.
I'm lucky that I generally have ~4h/day to play during weekdays... but out of those 4h... I'll run ST once or twice(there goes 90-120 min), drexpert(30min), gather a few things(depending on what's needed and what time slots I can hit), do maps(there goes usually 30-60 min since doing them with friends). So that's generally my time when I'm not training coil or some ex or something. Without teleport I would be only able to do one or the other type of content. No thanks. Balancing all this along with helping FC mates with fates, dungeons, crafting, gathering is hard enough as it is.
I'm still not done all the sightseeing logs so I still have a purpose to roam around the areas searching for those(without guides). And I try to do a hunt or two here and there(which means patrolling a zone over and over for over an hour until I hit a spawn or someone shouts).
OP sounds like he's just mad that everyone kills Hunts on his server before he can get to them.
Didn't they have a different currency for teleports in 1.0 similar to leve allowances. By limiting the player to 5 or 10 teleports a day (can save up to 100) we can stop players from spamming the hunts constantly, and also encourage people to travel the old fashioned way just a little bit more which would make the open world feel a bit more busy / alive.
I wonder why this was changed to gil for teleporting?
