Reason why removing teleport is stupid:
You don't actually have to use it.

I think in all RPG, players will be enable to teleport to every main towns/citis,
in ARR, teleport even cost $, it was a little bit expansive previously.
Maybe you forget you need to explore the map, find the aetherytes and activate it for further teleport?
Maybe you have missed a lot of experience before you got lv50,
I explored the world when I was easily being killed by trash mob, it was very nice when I found an new aetheryte as a save point! ^^;
Apparently "this function" is called as air-ships just bcoz it is FF. ^^;
Actually they can just turn the air-ship into a device for teleporting between 3 countries (in fact now it is),
At the moment I will suggest everyone just consider "air-ship" as an event of the main story quest (lv20?) ^^;

I'm shocked you are the only person to even bring up airships during this whole thing. Thank you!
And to some people above me:
To the person whom I made cringe, you must be new here, I've done my threads like that since there was even a forum for FFXIV, I don't even have to do that, people will still know who I am. So, please get over yourself.
Mugiawara: I don't play the game anymore, I'm just checking up to see how it is progressing, though, slowly, seems like it's made improvements.
Zephyr:
You are definitely not seeing the bigger picture here.
Ok, how about we do this, lets make every game from now on and make it linear, no open world, nothing to explore, would you like that? The fact you are playing an mmo suggests other wise. So, if you say there is no point in traversing the world, why even have a world there in the first place?
You talk about time constraints, why even grind out gear? Why even level? There's many things that can be tedious and pointless to people, traveling to you is one of those things, but for me and others it makes the world that much more enjoyable.
You will probably now say, don't force your style of play onto me... Well what about those people who don't like to get the best gear, yet you won't invite them to your parties unless they do? Or what about those people who don't like to level up other classes and they are lacking abilities but their linkshell or other people force them to do so. So when you people stop telling others how to play a game, I will try and stop making a game change that is actually good for the longevity of a video game and overall health of it.
And this and many others who are trying to give suggestions see that big picture:
I think the OP is more referring to what consequences the ease of travel place on content in place, rather than what he would like to do (or see others do) personally. Difficulty in commute can have a lot of positive effects, even if not particularly well received. It would stimulate the economy, reduce RMT activity, encourage camping over exploitation... An open 'world' is less a world and more like a group of rooms that all connect to one another as it stands. And less immediate transport would undoubtedly do a lot to change that.

9 pages for this? Ugh.
And to echo what so many people have already said, nothing stops you from not using teleport. After I get home from work, I usually workout, then after that I have to sort out food... sometimes I have 1-2 hours tops to play, I don't want to spend it running around. No-one is forcing you to teleport anywhere if you would rather run around!
"So you have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know..." --Walter Sobchak
When will you stop, Rokien? You have been beating the dead horse of "TELEPORTATION BAAAD!" since the early days of 1.0, and it's the same conversation every...single...time...
You don't play the game anymore. Why can you not move on?

So you believe teleporting makes the world feel small, because you instantly move between points, skipping everything in between. But does it matter how large or small the world is if there's nothing you need between point A and point B? You're implying that we should walk simply for the sake of burning off our time doing so, to no added value. We would accomplish nothing during the travel. We would gain nothing during the travel. We would see nothing new during the travel.
If you're in Ul'dah, and you get a quest that takes place in Upper La Noscea, of what value would be Western Thanalan, Limsa Lominsa, Middle La Noscea, and Eastern La Noscea? You've been through all of those zones more then enough times before. You've seen all of the sights, fought in all of the FATE's, and done all of the side quests in between. You know where the gathering points are, you've activated all of the Aetherytes and Chocobo Porters, and you've killed every type of monster across all of the maps.
So why?
You keep asking for a larger world, but the world only serves a purpose if it has a purpose 'at that present time'. Even if the world were dangerous, that would simply make the trip take more time where you're 'still' not accomplishing any sort of purpose. Even if the world were filled with all sorts of fantastic sights and interesting NPC's, you'd 'still' have seen all of them gods know how many times before.
Simply extending game life and play time by adding travel does not improve the game, it simply burns off the time that people have to play the game by instead making them spend more time getting from point A to point B then actually doing anything of merit.
Edit:
As a side note, I would be all for making the air ships and ferries take actual travel time, rather then being instant snaps between zones. We already have teleporting to take us anywhere and everywhere, let people use a more scenic option if they so choose.

Restrict my ability to teleport?
Yes if you give me an airship and allow me to fly the overworld like how it should be in FF7/FF8 etc.
Ok, have fun doing those dungeons without walking or running, please, if I ever come back to this game and I see you move, I'm going to call you out on it. every part of a game is gameplay. You are playing a game, if you press a, b, c, or box doesn't matter what happens on screen you are playing with it.
