-Walks away surprised he's still around;
??
No thanks!
What I hated about the game when I 1st started was how confusing the map/zones where. I had to constantly chech the map and hope I am heading toward the right zone.
Its better since I got some familiarity with the world, but its so much better to just teleport
Forgive me for ignoring the post, but I can't get past the narcissism of the opening line. There are a few others that post regularly on these forums who do the same thing, and it makes me cringe every time. If people care, they will know who you are by following your posts and recognizing your forum name.
I can also accept this Dannythm. However, it was the same exact case in 1.0. Except those of us who had the ability to travel through teleportation had a thing called "Anima" that needed to be recharged over time due to "fatigue" of teleporting this way. Now we just pay gil to endlessly teleport.I do, a lot actually, and part of that immersion is accepting that in Eorzea teleportation is a thing, but not everyone can use it because not everyone is strong enough to go through the aether plane.
Accepting game mechanics that have an in-game explanation and enjoying them is immersion, trying to make the game work like the real world isn't.
This too.
Tedium? Isn't it part of an RPG to TRAVERSE these worlds? All the work the team put into these lands...all the detail in the remote places...and they're skipped 80% of the time because people just want to constantly teleport. This is literally why the sightseeing log was implemented. And yes, to each their own, but I just feel that I explored XI more than I do in XIV, even when I decide to walk. But what can you do.
Like I said, I think we should have just stuck with Anima. But this is an argument long past, and I don't entirely care to repeat it.

It depends on how much lifetime you have to waste and throw away.
I for one do not have the time to spend to walk through zones upon zones just to get somewhere.
This idea is so bad this must be a troll thread.
Remember when teleport was more expensive and people couldn't afford to go places?
Or when repairs were so expensive people couldn't afford to run dungeons?
FFXIV fixed those problems; no reason to bring them back.
because of the size of the map, your argument is invalid, it would take less than 8 minutes to go where ever you want if you could just teleport to the cities + revenant toll + dragon head
8 minutes is just nothing in a day
Eight minutes adds up, and it's eight minutes spent doing something that has no point vs something you actively want to be doing. Look, I'm all for immersion, but don't try to ruin other people's convenience.
I gave up on this ages ago, people seem to enjoy their line simulation games instead of adventure games.
