Done with crafting

Not that anyone really cares, nor do I want them to care.. I just need to get this little bit out. Yep calling it quits on crafting. I usually love crafting, I expect a challenge and for it to not just be handed to me.. but there comes a point when I just don't have the free time to even begin playing catch up.

Spent a while on crafting now, got everything to 50 for both DoL and DoH.. now they released new items for both last patch. So I was playing catch up to that at first.. not i'm further behind and from the horror stories i keep hearing on melding (and my own experiences..) I think I'm better off not bothering. As a mother of two I have a number of other things I can spend what little free time I get during the day.

This saddens me to be honest that I can't craft.. normally crafting in a mmo is what I turn to when I want to just relax or spend some time not running dungeons or killing things in general. Personally I feel sorry for people who come new to the game and plan to craft.. but I wish them the best of luck. Also I dread seeing what crazy hoops you have to jump through in order to craft in the upcoming expansion. >_<

This being said I admit I am also not as excited as I once was for player housing or even getting a personal room due to being unable to craft half the items I planned on getting for the FC or my own use.

There end rant.. done (least it's not another god hunts are broken or pvp sucks thread!).

I mean don't you see the extra content as a way of forcing you to specialize rather than an expectation that you're going to get every Supra? Also melding isn't that bad, especially if you can make a bunch of ilvl 55 accessories to convert your own materia.

I'm focusing mainly on Mining and Leatherworking. I'm planning on melding other sets later but right now I'm just trying to decide what crafters I ought to level up.

edit: I personally don't like the idea that I need to cap most crafters to truly specialize in one crafter. I mean what would you have said in response to a thread where I thought leveling all my crafts to 50 took too much time? Just because they add in something you can't grind out as fast as you want isn't a real reason to give up on it. I've grinded most of my mining and LTW gear and it was probably only around 1 million-ish. Give or take whatever I blew on stupid desynth buys (which were definitely stupid).

saw this coming.. but anyway.. it's more the way they did it.. they can add new content all they want. I was just saying I'm done with it. people with more free time and endless gil pockets can have at it. ^^

I do, but the issue is I can't/don't have the time to get the gil or bind all of the materia (even if none of it failed and I don't see that happening). It's just not what i'm looking for personally in new content as far as crafting goes. As I said.. I look to crafting to be relaxing and I don't get this vibe anymore from FF's system.

But you have all the DoH/DoL to 50 anyways! You're more than halfway there!
You can make the gear to spirit bond yourself for the materia and work your way there for the new MH's and the 3 stars. Honestly don't give up, I don't think you realize JUST HOW MANY players do not have all their crafting jobs leveled up and what an advantage you already have!

Grats on getting them all to level 50. I've gotten like 3 to 15 and want to scoop my eyeballs out with an ice cream scoop.

I mean honestly, I think you're really over estimating the melding process. If you want to do it for ALL the crafts and then be doing 3 Stars for ALL YOUR CRAFTS yeah it's going to be too much. Though if you just focus a little, you should be fine.

I would suggest you don't worry about rushing to make all the new stuff right away. That IS a gil and time sink. It will still be there later on when you get around to it. Try to take a low stress approach. Make lower level stuff for friends, gather for a while to stock up on mats, sell some easy to make HQ items for some gil.

I don't think it's the point they added more but they added even more right after that. Would have been nice to just let us upgrade our original relics in the first place but they made us mine, harvest, fish and craft for new gear and tools only to screw us that worked hard getting them and still working on some. This is SE's problem, they put little thought into what they do and end up messing everyone up.
