^^; that pretty much is my full time job, i get a few hours of gameplay a day. I might be on most of the day/night but odds are I'm afk. I might swing by the computer to reply to a message if i see a tell or something asked in FC. I really don't want to spend my little bit of time grinding materia.. as fun as that sounds I think my friends would be sad if I said no all the time due to crafting.

I totally get where you're coming from. It's a tedious grind that doesn't feel like the end rewards justify the means to get there.

Plus, having to raise little ones isn't all that easy. And even if they're teenagers or going into college, it still isn't easy. As a parent, you always worry.

We can just go back to the 2.1 economy if you are all ok with that, making things hard adds value to the job.

I personally liked becoming an Armorsmith a lot more in Vanilla WoW than I ever liked the Blacksmith trade after that. Once they added in the extra sockets it just felt like everyone had it, and because everyone could crafter there was little market.

Honestly, it's really easy to disparage anything in the world with this "think of the children" defense but this grind is not that bad, OP is level 50 in all DoH and frankly they're just afraid of melding for no good reason. If they'd just pick a class to focus on I'm sure they'd be doing 2 stars and 3 stars in no time.

Yes if you want 3 Star and Supra for all your crafting classes it's a massive grind, but that's your own fault. Making a system that discourages everyone from passively achieving 3 star recipes from a few hours a night for a week or two is just better for the economy and game. I'll definitely prefer a system where people are weeded out (even I myself am weeded out since I don't have all my DoH at 50) as opposed to one where there is no demand since EVERYONE has all the same crafting ability.

People keep using this "better for the economy" argument. But what actual good does this bring to the economy? Higher prices? I don't want to sacrifice fun just so a few players can fulfill their dreams of cornering the market while the rest of the playerbase is stuck farming for gil.

You don't need to do it all. That's like saying you're going to upgrade every relic for all your jobs. That's crazy.

It is better to focus on one, maybe two, that can help with your other jobs. I started with culinarian because I felt it was the easiest of the eight and was quickly able to get my i70 glasses and frypan. Now with desynth available, I have an easy way to attain more i70 glasses that I can break down on my goldsmith.

Sure, there are some people who probably do have all their i70 tools for every craft, but they probably also have large FCs to support them in the process.

I don't see the point in working so hard to get to a point so quickly in an MMO, anyway. If you speed through content, you don't have the time to enjoy it. Kinda like eating a delicious meal at a gourmet restaurant.

I feel like I have all the time in the world right now, but I'm going back to college soon and, at that time, most of my spare time is gonna be eaten up by responsibilities. But even still, as much as I want to be a completionist and master everything, it's better to just take things slow and steady. Impatience often leads to failure, and that is true in a lot of things. Yet, ironically, there are many people who seem to embrace that impatience despite the failure it can sometimes bring.

    C'est la vie.

Well after getting my first combat class to level 50 the first thing i did was leveling my crafters and my gatherers to level 50 and today the only one i still need to level is the fisher since i don't really care for him. I have materia only in the gear that is still shared between the crafters because in my eyes grinding materia is just plain boring. I don't mind if it isn't easy to get the new things but it would have been enough if they made it so that with decent gear you have a certain change to even make the item that you need to trade and that makes you need some fails before you have enough success. In my eyes putting materia into the gear should be something you do to have a better chance to get HQ or to have it easier to craft and not something you need so you even have a little chance at starting the craft at all.
