so essentially saying people who trust SE are delusional
What you did was not "trust", but maintaining your own interpretation of the situation.
Your "trust" was built on false assumptions; and since SE never confirmed these false
assumptions, they also didn't betray your trust, just rectify your assumptions. Don't
blame them for not being the way you imagined them to be.

and they mentioned more than once that there would be some use for them in the future
Again, no. They considered the possibility, but they never stated this as a fact.

Basically your only remaining argument is that they used wording that was prone to be
misunderstood by some readers, who chose to ignore the rest of the evidence that clearly
pointed into another direction (explicit statement that fatigue served to discourage
    excessive grinding).

And actually, they gave you a "bonus" already. You had the unique and strictly limited
privilege to experience a yellow, or even a red EXP bar.

Now if that isn't something special!

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bonus

explain to me how "bonus" applied to these points if they were not to be used for something?

    lets go definition by definition.

1."something given or paid over and above what is due."
were we given or paid anything over what was due? no

    2. "a sum of money granted or given to an employee, a returned soldier, etc., in addition to regular pay..."
    did we get anything? no.

    3. "something free, as an extra dividend, given by a corporation to a purchaser of its securities."
did we get something free? no.

Bonus points were essentially the exact opposite of a bonus. Anytime you saw "you have earned x bonus points" you really lost x SP and gained nothing.

    How is that not lying?

Regardless of whether or not certain rewards are given, bonus, as shown clearly by the definition, suggests a benefit or something extra being received.

Further: If they did not intend any reward why not leave them as surplus. Why change what they are called to bonus? The fact they changed what they were called suggests that they implied there was a benefit to them.
