SE and the radar app thing

People are going to think I am defending the use of radar app, which I AM NOT, but ....

Again, I AM AGAINST the usage of radar and people should get at least a temp ban for it.

The only story you have is that you do simply do not care how you get to your content. The perfect customer in making stuff like this flourish and eventually become "required" by the community partaking in said content.

But go ahead, continue blaming us plebs for not being hush hush about how said app would not have been conceived were it not for the need to monopolize the hunt.

And I'm not saying all people in the hunt are cheats, but it takes a few rotten apples to spoil the bunch.

And there are a lot of organized rotten apples.

So im thinking of joining a ls for hunting, im a bit scared to join one in fear of SE being lazy and just banning whole LSs without conducting a thourough investigation, for using the radar thing.

Should I go ahead and join one or wait to see what SE does about the radar?

Dude SE wont be banning full LSs as they have no way to know if someone is using raddar apps unless they admit it in chat.
Just don't worry, use timer spreadsheet, join a hunt LS, and have some fun. You dont have to be scared of anything !
Of course you might ( and you will ) probably play with someone using this kind of app but since you are not using it, you have nothing to worry about.

Lemme just summarize this thread:

People who get hunts done easily are cheaters.
Everyone who uses a semi-intelligent information network is a cheater.
Everyone who stands around in a zone is a cheater.
Everyone who finds a mark is a cheater.
Anyone in a linkshell is a cheater.

To sum it up: People who play FFXIV are cheaters.

My point is, stop blaming others for your own incompetence. If you don't want to join a LS, then don't, but don't expect others not to. If you don't think that several maxed out ls' who track the times using spreadsheets can have enough people spread out to find the hunts then you're a fool. None of the zones are that big, and the spawn points are fairly well known. The content is easy, just time consuming. You complain about people with radars being at an advantage but so is anyone else who does any sort of information exchange compared to those that don't. Not as many people are cheating as you all seem to think, get over yourselves.

If I understood it right, by reading on the radar topics on different forums, all it does is show the name of the hunt (if it is up) if you are close enough to it (minimap close).

That is totally correct. about the only useful thing it does is allow you to filter out the trash and only
see the NM your hunting in the app. While again, you have to be with in 150 yalms of the mob and it has to be up.
It easier to just learn how to hunt than to use the "magical App" lol

The major beef that I have (and perhaps some others) - If you use your whatever to locate a mark more easily, and then say it on the LS - what if by this time I stumble across him and started to attack, and since I have no LS, and no Idea if it's rank B, A, S, SS one day?

I might shout of course, saying I will attack in x seconds.

1- so Technically, it's MY prey, as I am alone. Granted, if he's too hard, People around comes in handy, hence the shouts. So no Provoke and reset, just play it fair.

2- Do not be bitter and send 'nice words' because you were not the first ones to down him. (just like - please wait for X fate cause I didn't camp for it as I was lazy, bored, etc..)
- In real life, you both see a Deer on hunting season. First one to hit get's the kill? Do you split the skin and meat? Is there an app to find it?

3- What usually happens: by the time you are typing /sh, the swarm is already on their way. Luck much? I don't think so.

So yeah - You want to use whatever - fine, don't mention it. Just don't be bitter if others are killing the mark you just spot and wait for your entire Legion to come, and don't blast the one that found and killed it, now that's fair game for me.

Have a good hunting season guys - winter is coming.

Stop being a Radar apologist in short we don't know whose cheating.

King brought up a good point. If he finds a mob and starts killing it or even kills it, the hunt mob would get upset and throw their tantrums irregardless of fair play. That in itself is a big problem if you want to talk about the sense of entitlement. On one hand you have a mob farming hunts, on the other you got a solo hunter. He is entitled to kill the mob solo and not wait for others. /shout is just a courtesy. You can /shout and wait but there will always be someone who will pull anyways because of impatience mainly. In the end it is a no win situation that SE will have to deal with or not. If they adjust it then you will have ppl complaining SE broke it, even though others will point out that some players just have to rush through and that is their own fault. I plan to play for the long haul so I am in no rush myself.
