It mostly just comes down to mana cost trade offs, I've used pbp to replace brands in pretty much all aspected crafts for along time now and then finish with cs2 which is mana free, using brands typically just wastes more mana than using pbp chains until they cross and by that time you can usually just cs2 anyway

pbp is not affected by aspecting
