The only reason I think SE might have done this is because they might have the idea to add a nonsynced level frontlines in the future if the current frontlines is a succeess. If it is, a lot of people will be running with i100 PVP gear due to playing frontlines nonstop and reaching the PVP level cap. If that ever happens it would be reasonable not to allow glamour there, and it would be awkward at the same time to allow glamour on the ilvl 80 synced frontlines.

While I agree there is logic to deception I feel the argument isnt as apt to FFXIV since deception in every case given so far has a cost FFXIV wont care about. If you dress up in only merchant garb you've lost serious defense. If you dress up with merchant garb over your military garb you've gained extra weight. These actions have cost while FFXIV's if allowed would have none (minus maybe the cost of glamour'ing in the first place).

You're too amicable, I give you like. lol

Although if you want to see OP deception, in Dark Souls 1 / 2, there is an ability to hide your left and right hand items. So OP. Perhaps there will be an ability you can learn from rogue that can add some fun pvp deception (takes up skill slot, thus balanced in some manor).

Best I can figure is when Wolf Den came out it didn't have job titles. They didn't want to have players disguise themselves. I agree though since we have job titles, that really doesn't matter now.

I'm assuming it's a carry-over from wolves' den stuff. Most games if you have a system that hides glamour whenever you are in PvP, simply flagging PvP on will revert you to your normal gear.

This is probably how the PvP flag was handled for Wolves Den and continues to work the same way in the Frontlines.

This isn't reality, it's a game in a fantasy world with that even has the word fantasy in the title! The merchant garb could be magical or enchanted in some manner for all you know. Also consider that in the Japanese version, they're called mirage prisms unlike our version where it's known as glamour prisms.

Who zooms all the way in to correctly and quickly identify what you're opponant is wearing...among the other 5-10 plus people? I see a word I dart for/away asap. A big skirt or a bikini won't effect my decision in the slightest.
