You work 7:30-5 aka 9 hour days (assuming a 30 min unpaid lunch break) So unless your working 63 hours a week your off some says. I was saying working 42 hours a week you average 11-12 a day of "non work awake time" aka 70-80 hours a week.

70-80 hours a week is plenty of time to do "life" (chores, go food shopping, watch a football game with buddies, watch The Notebook (/cringe) with the wife/gf, run around the house like a man man. And still have more then enough time to play the couple hours a week needed to maintain the non existent end game.

RDO I get every other Friday off, usually when I handle my "business hours" (bank, dmv) errands. I personally think there is plenty of end-game, but to each his own :-/, I managed to cap soldiery every week, slowly work on animus with 2.2, now with 2.3 I still need (want) to do those things, PLUS circus tower drop once a week and working on hunts for those tokens (name escapes me right now). I feel like there's almost too much to do and I love it!

i would agree with the op. go take a look at how many level 50 faceroll dungeons we already have. imo that is quite enough at this point. st is also patheticaly easy, even easier than the first one. the only new semi chalenging content we got is ramuh ex. this is all we have for 3 months now.
the savage coil i see no incentive whatsoever to run, besides its the same exact rehashed content with only a few tweaks here and there.

i understand the casual populace is whats keeping the lights on. you know. these folks running around with novus in full i100 soldiery and soon to be i110 due to st drops that still cant down t5 or even titan ex. thats all well and good but please throw us a biger bone too in these casual patches.

I am still rather new to the game (Been playing for a round a month) so I probably do not have the knowledge and experience to really comment on some of the discussions here. However, I have played a lot of MMO's in my time (The first being FFXI the day it was released here in the UK) and so far I have been very impressed with the content added via the patches. It is very varied, and seems to have a little bit for everyone. For example, I love this games story and world. It really surprised me how good it was compared to your average MMO, and I love the fact that not only dose each patch add a whole bucket lode of new quests, but in the case of the main story it actually moves the characters and story along. It doesn't just feel like pre-patch filler (Although there is a natural element of that...)

In the end though, there will never be a patch that everyone is 100% happy with. There will always be those that say that they were not catered for, be they casual or hardcore.

Wanting hardcore end game content does not always mean wanting to invest more time than you already do in the game. Asking for competitive content and leveling every class are two different things. Good raid groups are usually quality over quantity when it comes to time investment and end up raiding less than the casual player overall.

It's kind of funny how after each patch there's always some cry out for "omg SE lack of raider/casual content this patch" I knew this patch was going to be lacking in endgmae material but lucky for me I like frontlines/savage coils. Hunts coulda been better. Either way, how some of the causal audience is behaving to arguments, the "lol we're the majority" kind of posts is asinine to say the least, because those are the type of people who make the "omg SE titan so hard/coils so hard posts."

I woulnt be laughing so hard right now if those posts didn't pop up, but it seems casuals seem appalled every time something raider based is added - and really they could give us another dungeon or two without killing people.

tl dr; both sides are being stupid and this whole casual vs raider perspective is stupid, stop your moaning every time the game patches for someone that isnt your target audience. Leave my hard content like coils/titan alone and let me make my money. I'll leave your Hildebrande content alone.

Also the time argument doesnt fly in this game cause most of the time sinks are in casual content anyway, and I cant be arsed to do dailies/relics anyway due to the amount of time with grind involved.

I don't even like coil, and I still think it is too much the focus for high end content. Too much of progression and highest rewards is focused on this tiny series of raids. I'd feel a lot better if said high end content was not just in hard coil, but hard hunts, fates, hests, crafting. Spread the difficulty, and the bounty that comes in clearing it, to other aspects of the game.
seems you missed the point of my post. You want more end game content, I said that's fine, so long as it does not effect the development of other content. The non-raider community makes up most of the income from FFXIV like it or not. If they were to completely ignore that part of the community for a single patch (and I mean completely as in a patch of nothing but high end raids) you can bet your chocobo that a large portion of that paying community will drop.

I did not say "no new raiding content" nor did I say "limit it so it's rare." I was referring to if they want to make more then they have been (IE SCoB and Savage mode etc) they can do so, just don't detract from the current development of content to make these changes. Hire more staff or such. Prepare a larger section of raids for the 'raid patch' (2.6 most likely as 2.4 is most likely set in stone for content) but make sure to keep the majority player base that pays for developing ALL content invested in the game rather than neglected.

    • Why are there not more 8 man dungeons?
    • Why isn't gear becoming more creative with stats?
    • Why is there no COMPETITIVE 24-man dungeon instead of a casual Crystal Tower experience (though I like that too)

Funny thing is I just posted in another thread that was about "fluff",(dying af), being put behind a massive grind wall.

How is 24-man content going to prove any less difficult, and more joyous to navigate with multiple complex mechanics while ball and chained with different players with different internet/system lag, unless I guess they make them all one-pop instanced mega bosses with no adds.

Why not just make "more" difficult challenging 4-8 man content?, getting 8 people to dance choreography together on 8 man stuff is a real hair puller now.

Fluff or not you just described more of the same, faceroll grind, or hardcore grind, there both ingame, pick what you want.

Plenty of people would have cleared coil by now, had they not spent the better half of the previous patches level synching fates for something that isn't even BiS.
