i think its because being a tank is unattractive.
*you don't deal crazy amounts of damage
*you don't have a lot of pzazz on your spells.
*leveling is painful as a tank, especially a gladiator(in my opinion, only got glad to 22 for provoke).
*everyone depends on you to make less mistakes.

Its just a game. If I die, I die. No big deal my person will just respawn and move on.

In all honesty though. I think people forgot what gaming was. There are tons of people who take gaming way too seriously, like its a job to them, its their career. I guess some people don't have much in the world, and maybe this is all they have, so they put everything into it, because they have nothing else but this. I mean if I ever get to the point where I am checking out all the other party members gear out to make sure its up to my standards, and leave a dungeon because its not, I'm going to hang it up. That is way too serious for me.

Tanks obviously aren't the only ones who leave dungeons. Who knows why they leave, personal reasons, something came up, phone rang, baby crying, connection lost, don't like the gear you are someone else is using, there are tons of reasons. Who knows. Maybe they just don't like the people they are paired up with. I may be a low level, but I see no issues with tanking, I actually enjoy it. When I can get into a dungeon because one of those reasons I listed happens to me (baby crying, she takes first priority over the game). Most of the people I have been paired up with are either very helpful, or don't really say anything and we make it through anyways. Maybe the end game content is way different, but I really don't see myself there anytime soon, my sub will probably run out before I get there.

Until SE either makes tanking more appealing to people, or people stop being a donkey to those who are willing to try tanking, doesn't look like its ever going to change.

Uh, the problem is on your end. I find that people who use the quote "It's just a game" don't tend to know what they're talking about. They think that just because it's a video game, it should be 100% unimportant to everyone. People always forget, that sure, it's a game. But it's a game played by REAL people. By saying what you did, you're effectively saying that anyone who plays games as a hobby or as their primary source of entertainment, are "doing it wrong" because they put time and effort into it. You don't have to take it to that level yourself, nothing wrong in that. But what you said is basically trash talking people that do go to that level.

ie Just because it's virtual and not something like a real life sports game, doesn't mean it's automatically unimportant.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Been playing video games since the Atari 2600, I think I know what a video game is.

You're going to act in an entitled way that virtually no other role does and further we should be happy about it and respect your infantile method of play? Well tough noogies buster. It's a game not a snack item or a drug. If you guys keep pulling this crap I hope you see stricter penalties. Honestly a lot of people won't feel sorry for you at all either.

Does anyone get tired of showing off their "gaming chops"? Honestly you're not a kid but you fooled everyone, congratulations? This person isn't saying you don't know what a video game is, but they're saying saying "it's just a game" as some kind of way to excuse anyone making a judgement on your behavior is idiotic. You can't flip over the monopoly board, right? People say 'it's just a game' and then operate with less decency than most smackheads.

I inspect people when I first go into a dungeon simply so I know how much I can pull at once. I don't want to overpull and tax my healer. So if in the course of said inspection I notice something amiss, you're saying that I should let someone that thinks it's a good idea to spiritbond mage gear on a melee DPS ride on my coattails? Yeah, no. Not happening. To imply that I have no life or something of the sort simply because I require someone to put some modicum of effort into clearing a dungeon that we both queued for is insulting. To go into a dungeon wearing crafting gear or the wrong stat gear is a waste of three other people's time. It means you can't do the job you queued up for. Sorry, but that's terribly selfish and people need to realize that the rest of the playerbase isn't there to carry you while you spiritbond. If you're cool with having people use and abuse you this way, that's completely up to you but please stop with the thinly-veiled insults for those of us that aren't.

Personally, I would've asked the DRG to put on proper gear; if they refused or didn't answer, vote kick. It's not like you're going to wait long for a replacement DPS, and you can easily progress while you wait.
