Suggestion: Greed, Need and "I'll take it if no one else wants it..."

I would like to see a third option to Greed and Need, call it something like "want" ("I'll take it if no one else wants it" is way too long)

Basically this already exists in the form of not lotting at all- in that situation, if everyone else passes, an item will drop in your inventory. With a 3rd option, this saves the trouble of hanging around at the end of a dungeon.
I know it sounds silly, but this would be immensely useful doing runs with friends.

Simple example: my DRG is 40 and we (friends) did T1. DRG Belt dropped... I didn't wanna greed it in case someone else had a 50 DRG they didn't bring to the dungeon (enter the drama). This would save from asking repeatedly "hey guys can I have that!?" and/or annoying friends.

Honestly just randomly placing it in someones inv would be preferable to it hitting the ground. If the new owner doesn't want it they can turn it in for GC seals or just drop it. I'm to the point that I just Greed everything anyway unless someone says 'Can I have that?'.

This. You can also zone out if you greed something that someone actually wants. Assuming you were last of course. I've done that a few times in various zones with my FC.

Just allow recently won items to still be tradeable to other members of your current instance, until the instance is exited. That option would be much more flexible. You could make amends if you ever accidentally hit Need and didn't really feel the item was an upgrade. You could place your Greed as a second vote to help another player secure the item for a secondary job. You could Greed all the items you see and then donate what you win to the new player who's doing the instance for the very first time. It's the power of choice.

That's a pretty good idea, but I think it still makes for players (like me) who greed many items, even if i don't need it. I don't want to appear greedy, but I also don't want to have to go over a shopping list before each dungeon to clarify who might want what.

I think an alternative solution could be:
    • Allow people to see rolls as they are rolled.
    • Allow players to downgrade their roll at a whim (need->greed->pass)
    • After all votes are cast, show a message "All votes have been cast for XXX, you have 10 seconds to change them"
    • Allow 10 seconds (or whatever) for final changes.

So, I greed for 90, then another member greeds it.
I say "oh did you want that, ok I'll pass!"
Party sees that I change my roll to pass.

If no one lots, the item will randomly fall to any players who did not pass.

If people get anxious about lots, then someone probably lotted it already and, well, there you go. You don't have to feel embarrassed.

I've played other MMOs that let you trade items to someone else as long as you haven't left the instance. Seems pretty reasonable. At a bare minimum, let people pass AFTER they've already Need/Greed-ed. Just in case they messed up. As for a "want but don't really care" option... the chances that 3-7 other players would use that is like 0%. That is exactly what GREED is for.

I think I would like this. Many of time that I found this situation in the dungeon where our level are so high that we don't need lv 70 gear anymore, but instead of letting it go into void, we would rather get company seal from it. and I have to admit that in DF, people usually careless to ask each other about gear. (especially different language)

What if I don't want the item to begin with?
