There is a huge difference between a few grand total for some and having skill.
So, NO, this is not an equal opportunity situation. Skill can be taught, not everyone has that much money to burn.
Airfare, hotel, ticket, food, PASSPORT, it all adds up. Where as a simple digital ticket lets all those who WANT to go, but can't due to whatever, attend in spirit.
