Like see how many people try to buy tickets and such. Yes they've made fanfests for XI in the past, but XIV is a different game, and they may be unsure of the turnout and are testing the waters for this first run. Who knows honestly.

Yep, and with XI a few of them you only had to buy/register ticket to get access to in-game stuff - But not for XIV and as people love to say: "THIS IS NOT FFXI DON'T BRING ANYTHING ABOUT XI INTO THIS GAME!", even when what they did with XI is exactly what some people are requesting.

The event is not unfair but locking in game items to a real life event is unfair. If that is fair then just open up the cash shop, because it all boils down to money.

They are not the same. Cash shop paves the way for pay to win. And cats shop isn't exclusive, and can be used any time.

The exclusive item itself isn't bought, can't be gotten any time, and doesn't affect game play in a way that gives person A an advantage in a dungeon over person B. It's given as a thank you by se.

Cash shops are pay to win in free to play games. You're accusing me of comparing apples to oranges yet you're the one who's actually doing it. FFXIV borrows so heavily from WoW. They have a cash shop that is purely cosmetic yet you're covering your ears and shouting at the top of your lungs pretending like you can't hear us. Blizzard also sells virtual tickets to their events so everyone can obtain those event exclusive items.

Even if they don't offer a virtual ticket they can still go the route of selling the items online only for the duration of the event.

And for someone who claims this thread will change nothing, you sure are putting in a lot of effort expressing your opinion on the other side there.

Apples to oranges. Those rewards were distributed server wide regardless if you attended the event or not.

No, not likely. The items they give, assuming they do it like other companies, are not game affecting. Like pets or minions and the like. It's one of the benefits they give people who are willing to shell out and come to their event.

My personal opinion, is also no. If it affected gameplay it would be a different story. But like the Murloc Suit I got for going to a Blizzcon one year, you can't get it anywhere else unless one of the original people who went to that Blizzcon still has the code unused(Assuming they stopped accepting the codes too).

Saying players have equal access to all the content is chocobo manure. I'm a casual player and as such almost all endgame gear/content is inaccessible to me. I'm won't spend 10+ hours a week raiding and running the same dungeons over and over. I also refuse to get caught up in that in game "you need to be here and this time everyweek" misery like I did in FFXI. A huge chunk of this games content is locked away from me. Should SE put Allagan armor up on the store for me to buy to put me on equal footing with the people who put the work in to earn this gear? No. What about people who work long hours, are drowning in schoolwork, can't play due to family, kids with limited playtime, ect. My answer is still No. If we are unwilling to make the sacrifice to obtain these items not only do we not get them, we don't deserve them. This fanfest item is no different.

I live in the US east coast. The US convention is in Vegas. Even though the event is in the same country as I. It's out of my reach finically and logically. Frankly $120 is pretty steep on tickets so that doesn't help putting the convention into my grasp either.

Showing the convention digitally is an option, but again it goes back to $120 bucks being pretty dang steep in price. However, $10-15 for an in game item to commemorate the convention that we can buy off the mog station would be reasonable, esp for the people that can't just drop $120-$1000 + on the whim, but want to celebrate or show support to the convention.

7 Hells just donate the proceeds to breast cancer SE if you don't want mog station money from us. A lot of people would buy lots of things if they knew the funds went into research or helping others.

FFXI was restrictive, WoW is inclusive. Is there something wrong with wanting equal opportunity for everyone?

If you're going to the event and you don't care about the item, don't voice concern against our request. If you're not going to the event, don't voice concern against our request. I would like to hear from someone who is actually going to this event as to why they feel this item should be exclusive.

Honestly this is all very similar to the whole gay marriage issue. It's like, it doesn't affect you in any way, so why does it matter if they get married? Does the item being available for everyone affect you in any way? No? So why do you care? Why are you here arguing that it should be for attendees only?

That would be a solid argument if content wasn't constantly nerfed and made more accessable to a wider variety of players with every patch.
