Or they could just not give away in game items at real life events like fanfest and give real life items for their real life event... and everyone would be happy. I mean why stop there, let's make people do real life quest if they want to progress their relic weapon further... That sounds like a good idea, right? Go to the Grand Canyon dress as your job in game or you can't get further your relic in game...

You might look at mounts, minions, and vanity gear as useless but I don't. A lot of people care about that stuff, it adds to their overall enjoyment of the game.

Useless as in it doesn't affect the game's balance in any way, meaning you losing out on that item won't suddenly hinder your progress or you gaining that item won't suddenly make you a god.

This has nothing to do with that... Basically you're saying I should only care about something that changes the game's balance and I'm telling you it is about adding enjoyment to the game. Other then adding to your post count, why bother posting about something you don't care about? But ya I made my point for the off chance a dev reads it and it is rock solid, so whatever.

This is exactly what I am saying. Obviously people care about items that make your character stronger vs other players in dungeons etc. Well, some people care about items that make their character look cool. That is game balance to them. You can't write them off and say their opinion is invalid. They are paying customers too.

So it's ok for everyone and their brother, sister and mother to get it just by throwing a few bucks at SE? Devaluing the item even further? There's a reason there are exclusive or limited time items. I've seen many threads from people wanting to look different from others and such, but when everyone can get everything, it devalues any given outfit or item.

Why does there need to be so much imaginary value put into the item in the first place? Are people going to the event just to get the in game item? The reward for going to the event should be just that, GOING TO THE EVENT where you be there in person with the developers hearing everything first hand and being there with all of your fellow gamers and friends. lol.

If you want to twist it into that - As said, what's the difference between someone losing out on this item compared to someone losing out on an item they can get with preordering the game? You know, like the Cait Sith Minion some may like? You can no longer get those if you didn't preorder, as that's the only way to. Did you pre-order? Do you have a Cait Sith Minion? If you say yes then where are all the topics from people complaining they can no longer get it? Or that it should be on Mog Station....? That, the Mog Cap and any other limited items are no longer possible to get. The last Years TGS earrings? Unless Calamity Salvager sells it to people you can no longer get those either....

So SE has already done exclusive items that some seem to have forgotten about.

I didn't really see anyone complain about that like they are here. The thing is, the opportunity to get this exclusive item is open to everyone while the tickets are available, which I think is the point many are making. if you can't go it's truly not that big of a deal, if you really want it, find some way to get there.

You know, the ones in support of making this available to everyone are the ones putting a lot of value on it, not the ones who understand this is an incentive/perk of going to the event, which every company that has conventions or fan festivals does. There is one big difference between all the exclusive items from before and this exclusive fanfest item. Anyone could get those exclusive items if they played the actual game from pre-order to now and did all in game events. Fanfest is not online accessible and has nothing to do with playing the game. Exclusive items should be able to be got in game by the gamers who play the game, not by going to Las Vegas or London or Tokyo. It's Final Fantasy Online. Just because they can do it doesn't mean they should. If they changed the locations to the south pole or the moon, would you try to feed me the same BS about getting to them if we really want it? Do I think they should sell in game exclusive items on the mog station? No but they shouldn't be doing this either. They should keep it to in game events and pre-orders only.

Anyone can go to Vegas, London or Tokyo unless you can show documents from the government forbidding you from visiting those cities. The only thing that will prevent you from getting it is if you can't purchase the ticket and go to the festival.

Know what prevents you from getting pre-order item? If you couldn't afford the $100+ it cost, and now that the deadline has passed, even if you got codes on ebay they will not work meaning people lost out on those items if they didn't act on it before, yet there's no topics about that.

Same. Concept. You either can afford to get it or you cannot. The logic used here: SE should give everyone Cait Sith Minions and Moogle Caps, but they haven't...why? It was exclusive perks for pre-ordering. Therefore, answer this question: Why haven't SE mailed everyone who plays FFXIV the Cait Sith Minion and Moogle Cap regardless if you pre-ordered or not? It's an In-game item.
