And since my point was that SE doesn't seem to be developing much new content, then I feel my point still stands.

They may have reimagined pre-existing assets, but obviously nothing was created from scratch. Most of it was reused and makes one wonder if the FFXIV team is understaffed in that particular department at the moment.

I'm not necessarily saying they are understaffed, it just makes one wonder, you know?
ANY mmo reuses character models, re-skins existing assets and can take content designed long ago and introduce it into the current game. ANY MMO.

MMO's are massive worlds, if you expect an MMO to create totally new art and geometry assets every patch, for huge areas then you do not know much about game design.

This is not an indication of A:Understaffing or B:Under-funding - its simply a fact of life where SOLID game content takes a LONG TIME to produce, but subscribers expect regular updates. Its a plane and simple fact of game development and it does not mean that SE aren't investing in the dev team for this particular MMO.

Go back to games 101 and come back to the conversation when you are better informed little one.

I am not expecting them to create a new game every patch, but we have been almost a year without much at all. So I do expect something to come out of a year's development. You see my point? There's a difference to saying "you can't have something new every patch" and saying "you can't have something new even once a year". This was their chance to show us they have been putting their best foot forward. Unfortunately their best foot seems a little lame, if you'll pardon the pun.

Hopefully down the line, SE will be able to show-case their effort. Or perhaps it will just be more lackthereof as usual.

well it hasnt been a year yet, and they have done lots i think. Looking at the game now, and what it was in open beta (1), lots of fixing has been done.

Just do what i'm doing, leave the game installed but dont log in for 6months, I love the game, and I KNOW that it will be much better come xmas.

Gift, you seem to question what the dev's are working on. I think its pretty obvious as the developers try to get to the core of what is wrong they are continually finding more problems. Yoshi seems to be confident these next 3 patches will resolve most of the system limitations right from the most basic transaction level interactions.

When they say that cross world party search and linkshell actions are something that will take time because of system limitations they are talking about these issues at the core of the game. Once the core issues are solved patches and fixes should come in at a much faster pace.

I think we will all be pleasantly surprised with 1.18,1.19, and 1.20. And I fully intend to re-invite all my LS mates who have since taken a break from the game this fall. If SE can deliver what was stated in the last few producer letters by the end of summer (or end of sept.) then I think the game will be in a great shape to start prepping for a firm PS3 launch date.

I guess we can only wait and see.

That's the motto around here right?

    Any better proposals?

"Don't wait and leave" is another good one, and I encourage using it.

That's probably really good advice. But I would miss all the LS drama.

We all know they're working on the "core" but I am wondering what's going on with the graphics. Most of the players are under the impression that they have been working on some big content to combat the bland visual design. I'd like to believe that too but there's just no facts to prove the case either way so all we can do is wait.

I'd like to know there's more visual interest to these areas than a round door but as it is I think we'll have to wait for a long while to see some FF-worthy imagination in this game.

I hope there's a XIV equivalent of Thunder Plains, Shinra building, Balamb Garden or Sea of Sand or the Lifa Tree, the pillar on Pulse or the home of the Star Sybil. Something unforgettably imaginative. Zanarkand was a 10-minute game-play section but still the architecture and the atmosphere of that place was really memorable.

Even if it's a quick concept sketch... no scratch that; btw when it comes to previous FF titles there is no such thing as a quick concept sketch have you heard of the team Kusanagi?

    http://parkablogs.com/sites/default/...kusanagi-5.jpg

That kind of design takes days of hard work to pull off well.
Anyway even as a concept image I'd love for them to show that the art team is working on something memorable.
I'd really want them to contract the members of Kusanagi to do work for XIV as they've been a big part of the imaginative visuals of FF titles ever since FFVII.
