    Regardless of the matter it's starting to show that current end-game design is losing its luster. It was a design that was in it's all time high with Vanilla WoW because the concept was simple and enjoyable and it has turned into something that used to be fun to do and a enjoyable experience (AQ40) to a tedious chore of memorizing a dance (WoTLK+). The worst part is that everything worth doing is getting gated behind raids and everything outside of raiding becomes so secondary and meaningless that it's losing it's purpose in the MMO design due to how unenjoyable of an experience it is to always have to form static > down content > wait for reset then rinse and repeat. Yet if something upsets that delicate system, such as someone having to leave, someone not being good enough drama ensues and only creates a negative environment and it's only been getting worse and worse.

    Yet this is gonna be an endless cycle until someone realizes it and breaks away from it.

    I'd guess it's harder to find people to play the game with if you can't speak the same language as the majority of players. It'd certainly explain his inability to complete anything without a static.

    The lack of true regional servers outside of U.S. / Japan probably make it that much harder

    The OP is yet another voice in the chorus of people who have decided to quit this game due to the fundamental design problems.

    ARR's player toxicity is a largely side-effect of the devs creating an overly "accessible" and simultaneously an unforgivingly rigid game.

    There is no room for either creativity or error in ARR, any individual failure is directly the result of players 'not doing it right'.

    Furthermore, as drops are virtually guaranteed, any failure is also viewed as a 100% waste of time (eg. "if player X hadn't screwed up, I'd have my item/win already")

    This game design is cheap fodder for the masses. It attracts the most uncreative and self-entitled types of players, and then spoon-feeds them a regular diet of gaudy trinkets to reinforce their pathetic delusions of grandeur.


    Like you, OP. I have also leveled every class (sans Botanist and Miner) to 50. In addition, I played FFXI since the NA lauch, FFXIV 1.0 from the alpha to the server close.


    Even for all of the shortcomings 1.0 had, I always had faith that SE would make good on their promise and deliver a fantastic FF MMO experience (at least on par with FFXI). ARR had tremendous promise, the graphics are gorgeous, the UI fantastic, the world is rich and detailed... but in the process of fixing FFXIV Yoshi P gutted the game of any sense of exploration, adventure. and meaningful decision making.

    FFXIV was transformed from a massive and relatively immersive (if flawed) FF world, into a theme-park parody of it's former self.

    For all it's MMO trimmings, ARR is as much of a 'corridor run' as FFXIII was.

    To me, this is far worse than any of the issues 1.0 had.

    Raid finder is the worst part about WoW now. I am glad that Crystal Tower which is kind of like raid finder from WoW is different from Coil. You can always do Crystal Tower which drops gear that is 10 item levels less than Coil which in its own way is the same as raid finder. I still think the tuned down raids in WoW are really bad though. They should be different contents like here with Crystal Tower and Coil.

    How much of that was due to marketing and hype of a new game, or simply the revamp of the UI?

    Most of my classes were capped in 1.0

    Ever since I started endgame in ARR, I've been less and less interested in playing and I just canceled my auto-renewal on my sub.


    I'm looking for an MMO that provides a sense of adventure, discovery, and gives players meaningful decisions to make -- ARR has none of those things.

    You seem to enjoy treadmilling and gimmicky fan-fare -- and that's cool. You are obviously the target market for this sort of thing.

    But I'm a player who wants depth in their MMO and I can't justify paying for another round of iLvl+10 gear progression and team jump-rope.

    Which is why I'm out when my sub is up.

    I totally admit to being in the minority.

    But, popularity almost never reflects quality. Rather, it just means you've hit the lowest common denominator -- eg. 'Frozen', Two and a Half Men, Miller Lite, Taco Bell, Wallmart, Dr. Phil, Public Education, etc.

    Case in point: Zynga games have far more popularity than ARR. Would you prefer SE adopt their business model for the future of ARR?
