Log Horizon did the whole MMORPGs the best and I hear that the person behind Log Horizon never played MMO's.

The manga of Legends was good for a nice short story that gave closer to what happened with some characters, and the outcome of the game itself. As well as added to Aura in a nice way. The anime throws all that away to be a nice short mainstream cartoon. And even though Legends anime is by far the worst part of the .hack series I often see it getting praised in anime communities and on youtube because of the fact they gave in to the mainstream. People actually like big breasted dog humans, borderline incest, and cutesy drawings. It sucks, but its true. G.U. manga, movie and novels were pretty good, but the games were awful. Story wise. LiNK is really good if you give it a chance. I hated it at first because of character design and some of the plot points they chose but LiNK and onward are probably some of my favorite .hack after the original IMOQ story.

Actually .hack did not do it first. This is a common misconception. Sword Art Online light novels were released several months before anything .hack related. I love both series, I just constantly see uninformed individuals making this parallel.

No they weren't. That is what SAO fans spread to make them sound original. The current state of SAO did not begin until 2009. In 2002 is when the original SAO concept being written and I believe self published or something like that. Early .hack was written, conceptualized, published, and had a project path laid out by 2002. Meaning is was being written in the same way as SAO before 2002.

SAO, in it's original form, was posted online as a web novel in 2002. It was going to be entered in a light novel contest, but it was too long to count, and the author didn't want his work to go to waste.

This x100. If they had ended at the whiteout after the final fight then it would have been 8/10 but NOPE. Had to turn the strong female lead into a damsel in distress + incest wishing with the main character's sister. 4/10 at best because of that.
