One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game’s tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now…

I see a lot of references while came from many MMOs with hidden ideals facing off with realism towards MMO gaming. It's not a Final Fantasy game I tell you that, it's Hard Core if you ask me. If you were in that possision, what would you do, how would your behavior change? Think about an apocolypes but only for gamers, survive on your own or help others. What would you choose?

Thank you for not coming in here to TROLL or post arguements comparing Dot Hack or some other anime/manga you think was "better" or "did it first". I just wanted to share, have a good day.

Actually .hack did not do it first. This is a common misconception. Sword Art Online light novels were released several months before anything .hack related. I love both series, I just constantly see uninformed individuals making this parallel.

No they weren't. That is what SAO fans spread to make them sound original. The current state of SAO did not begin until 2009. In 2002 is when the original SAO concept being written and I believe self published or something like that. Early .hack was written, conceptualized, published, and had a project path laid out by 2002. Meaning is was being written in the same way as SAO before 2002.

This x100. If they had ended at the whiteout after the final fight then it would have been 8/10 but NOPE. Had to turn the strong female lead into a damsel in distress + incest wishing with the main character's sister. 4/10 at best because of that.
