    Kind on topic though:

    My favorite zombie movies? The George Romero ones. He really gave no reason on what caused the dead to walk, or what the cure was. Just this unbelievable event you had to live through… nothing else.

    Those type of flicks are my favorite by far.

    SAO 1st season had that same magical feeling for me. This unbelievable event you had to survive. Seemed more about the characters trying to get through this, and that enthralled me.

    2nd season lost a lot of that magic…. for me anyway. SPOILER AHEAD!!!! An all out corporate/fiancee of your girlfriend bad guy.

    SAO had an interesting concept, but godawful execution. In my opinion, Log Horizon and the .hack// franchise both did it far better. Granted, some parts of .hack// (Legend of the Twilight, LINK) were kind of awful too, but they made up for it with other parts (my personal favourite is G.U. even though it was never released in my home region).

    I didn't mind SAO so much, but I disliked the execution of it. I mean, it was too solely-invested in a romance plot for me that just felt... unnecessary, tacked-on, and forced. And yes, I watched the first season all the way through - and I really didn't enjoy it as much as .hack or Log Horizon.

    Like a lot of other posters said, I enjoyed .hack more - and I feel it executed it far, far better. Particularly, //GU was -amazing- for me.

    Log Horizon I actually only watched a month or two ago. and I literally binged the full season in less than a week. It was -that- good.

    1.You have the outspoken 'we're loving it' mob who are probably ignoring issues.
    2.In addition, there's the optimistic 'I'm having fun and waiting for more' group, who are willing to overlook some things and hope others are fixed soon.
    3.Then there's the 'I really want this to work, but it isn't' group, who see some faint promise in the game, but don't have a lot of faith that the developers will fix the large problems anytime soon.
    4.Lastly, there's the 'I dislike it, therefore no one can like it' group.

    I loved .hack// very much, and I fell in love with Log Horizon very quickly. Sword Art Online... I dunno, it didn't really strike a chord with me in the same way as those two.

    Log Horizon did the whole MMORPGs the best and I hear that the person behind Log Horizon never played MMO's.

    To bad communities aren't that awesome on average.
