Easy, tried pali first thing i entered the game. slowness of the class killed it for me
I do agree that i have to set the pace. but sometimes you know its impossible. when i see i am letting too much hate i use a remark or flat out tell them im new so they know what to expect. So far i didnt have smug or rude people commenting on my tanking. but hey, some people will hate at one point or another
Thank you very much. Im guessing you knew who i was from my uppity hair color?
I am trying to get it work which can be a hassle especially at low levels![]()
I got another question for the group.
I was in Maws and you know the last 2 bosses where adds come in and try to attack? at one instant i didnt get them. and the second time i went in i got them.
Whats the optimum? cause when i run to get them we lose dps on boss especially if a lnc/drg or pug/mnk is in the group.
So in retrospect, my question is, what you do when adds come over? focus them so you get them? leave them to their own shenanigans?

I always just -> see ads -> run over and flash them to myself and bring them back to boss.
DPS kill the 2 imps then run to my mob of crap and DPS down the mob. By now you should have enough aggro on the boss that if you run to the ads, he'll just follow you.
During the imp phase, the boss is invincible anyway so you attacking him is pointless, may as well just grab those ads
The tamtara boss room basically taught me that soon as I see guys spawn immediately run and flash/lob/whatever them. The earlier you can get them the easier it will be to keep aggro.
Once they've aggroed someone else for a while, it's really hard & annoying to get it back.
I am also new to tanking. I just got my relic this past weekend but I've gotten a lot better than my early derping days in Sastasha lol. I think the best place to really make use of most of your tanking skills is in Stone Vigil. So if you're brave enough to challenge that give it a go. Otherwise the level sync really hampers your class and it feels like all you do is spam shield lob and flash everywhere.

Actually I made a mistake and referenced Tam Tara instead of Maws. Informative nonetheless so thank you
As for the Stone Vigil. What if i told you im not at that level yet. My tank is only level 27. not even haukke yet. Still, i will tackle higher content in time and the derping... im in that phase and boy its a blast. haha![]()
hah well in that case I have a mixed bag of experience there. In some runs the DPS did kill the scorpions but in others they ignored them.
the ones where they kill them, were probably the smoothest to be honest. I did have a run where they didn't even kill the tail and let it spew poison everywhere. Instead they just burned the boss down lol. Honestly as a tank, it's probably best to grab every ad you can.If the DPS wanna burn down the boss that's cool, but they can't do it if they got ads on their butt and your healer can't keep you up if he's getting attacked by 3 scorpions. I vaguely recall spamming flashes/provokes/shield lobs during the chaos and every cool down I can possibly use lol.
If the DPS are new or seem like they aren't sure, I keybind the markers 1 & 2 and place them on either the tail or the ads to let them know to attack this guy instead. I think in the boss room I've only ever really put a 1 on the tail.
