Where is this clarification that you speak of?Wasn't it already clarified that the crystal tools engine limits this sort of action and thus we wouldn't get it in FFXIV, and instead would be moving towards the 2nd style of combat in mmos which is an older style with AA and more stategy within the action you take and not strategy like dodging and such.
not about attitude here, but you're being unrealistic.Well, if the developers have the same attitude that an idea such as that is almost impossible to apply, then they may as well pull the plug. I'm not expecting this to be out in a few months, maybe in the next year or so when they start thinking about pvp.
the efforts that need to be put into a tera like combat system for FFXIV wouldn't be a matter of months, rather of years.
they would need to scrap everything that is related to the current combat system, and at that they wouldn't be able to build up content/animations/skillsets untill atleast they have a clear vision of the combat system, and even after that it would require further balancing (see FFXIV in it's current state)
do you really belive SE would take up such a burden once again after wasting so much money on a game that failed so hard, and didn't earn anything yet besides from the few retail sales it had?
i'll say it nice and easy again, but better be happy if you get a "working" combat system.
soon that is achieved we'll finally get to see actual work on the game being done like storys, new zones & content.
don't expect any miracles here, miracles don't happen, not after such a heavy year.
you're talking about another combat revamp like it's nothing.
being optimistic and giving suggestions is fine.
but you're arguing with people about something that will never happen as it's impossible in the current state of FFXIV, at best it would kill the game as noone would be up for it to wait another year or two for such an enormous change.
they might aswell kill FFXIV off and release a new MMO called Final Fantasy Rebirth in 2014 with such an Combat system.
PS:
The video of tera you've posted "Spartan like tanks" has nothing to do with the actual game.
it's an old trailer, and as such, doesn't reflect to the actual game.
you can have a max group size of 5.
so you're tank wall dream is over aswell.
you play tera like any other mmo, just with a different combat system.
and as a tank all you do is make sure to defend properly, and make sure you don't face the enemy towards your healer as it can just jump thru you and at that take the healer with you into nirvana.

They made 40 million dollars off of retail sales. That more than paid for its development.
Ok, well the next generation of MMORPGs are coming out this year and next year with everything fast, flashy, and pretty ass graphics, and it will outshine FFXIV by a lot making it look old, boring by comparison With your logic, saying it is unrealistic, and that I should be happy if they come out with a working combat system, which do you think players will choose to play? Being happy with what we got is not how it works in the free market business world. You have to be bigger and better than the competition and always evolve and reinvent yourself or else you are gone like the dinosaurs. I can choose to play a different game if the other game is much better. I'm not one of those people who whines about the game repeatedly every single day, but get stuck playing it for 10 years or so.not about attitude here, but you're being unrealistic.

when the character evades in this game we just get that message in lot + pop up on screen right? I didn't even pay attention to that LOL; would think adding dodge animation whenever you evade works... but then again if your char evades the wrong way (the animation) when mobs hitting from whatever direction you're evading... then it would look weird/funny. But then again don't think any action/mmo can make dodging animation that perfect to match every mobs AI... Someone mentioned voice over... that I would like to see (with toggle option, I know some hates voice over)
fast, flashy & pretty graphics isn't what makes an MMO successful tho.
and man, noone is happy with what we got, that's why it's being changed.
but your suggestion of change is over the top.
a reason so many users still stick with their 5-8 year old mmo's is because they're happy with everything they got there.
if fast, flashy & good graphics is what works these days, then i wonder how Tera can suck so bad.
@ Reinheart
there actually is an Evading animation, as well as blocking.
probably it doesn't allways get thru, but if you watch closely you see your character take a step back, and back down a little.
only if the enemy is missing there is no evade animation if i remember correctly.
but yea, it's hard to see it often, since animations sometimes don't get thru, or are just cancelled out by another action

Yeah, when my character dodges or parries, I almost never notice it in a party situation. During solo play, I see it because I can read the battle log. It is never obvious in the animations. It's a big deal for me because I find fracture and jarring strike incredibly useful. Think if you have more control over dodging, like a boxer (pugilist), by doing it manually. I like voice overs. What's the point of choosing your character's voice if all you can hear from them are "HAHA!" I want to hear my character say "Arrow Helix! Hah!", "Take this!". I don't see why at this point in technological advancement that they can't make this game look almost as good and play as good as their offline final fantasy games. How long ago was FFVIII? How new is this game?when the character evades in this game we just get that message in lot + pop up on screen right? What makes you think that fast, flashy graphics is all the competition has to offer? For god sakes, look at the mounts on those games, and look at what we got: we got legs.fast, flashy & pretty graphics isn't what makes an MMO successful tho.

Mostly because this game sucked and Rift was the next MMO in line.
Fortunately, Tera won't be a copy-paste mess of an idea like Rift was, and will actually have gameplay (unlike this game, which I would equate with watching a 3D anime that contains 90% filler...). Hell, I can't even really compare Tera with Rift because Tera actually has new things to bring to the MMO table!
when did we start talking about mounts?
you're not making sense anymore.
you went from Combat > Fast , Flashy & Graphics > Mounts
