Rogue TYPE. TYPE. Thief/Ninja would fall into that class. The only time Rogue was in a Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy XIV ARR. This is something new to the series to even have classes that then turn into jobs. So there is no set rule in play for the Rogue class. Also please remember that JRPG's are different than RPGs as well as the fact that this is a Japanese MMO (even though its international) not a RPG or American MMO.

there's a big difference between lv 5, and lv X.
yah, and they used to be able to use fire/thunder/blizzard/etc...now they cant...cause this is ARR, not 1.0.
One issue with this system is that in the long-run, there will be more jobs requiring STR than DEX cos naturally there will be more melee DPS than ranged DPS. There are many weapon types to give rise to a range of melee DPS, but certainly not that many ranged weapon types.
Later on what you will get is probably 10 DPS fighting over STR accessories with maybe 3 DPS fighting over DEX.

Please change the wording for INT because people who don't have high stats in this attribute are not entirely stupid.
I think you're missing the point of his post. He isn't saying DEX should be what the throwing WS use.
He just wants it clarified that they use STR in tooltips.
His statement about DEX being used on a melee in the future is conjecture, and he admitted it was
from looking at not positive .dats.
He doesn't want them to change and overcomplicate things. Which btw, there is nothing
wrong with having some depth to combat. formulas CAN be too basic and boring at times.

Last I recall you can only have up to 8 people in a party. Its at most 4 DPS fighting over one thing if you decide to bring all melee. Doesn't matter if there are 50 STR DPS jobs, you are still in competition with the same amount of players in a party as you are currently. One issue with this system is that in the long-run, there will be more jobs requiring STR than DEX cos naturally there will be more melee DPS than ranged DPS. The secondary stats don't cut it for you? People on these forums are always theory crafting the various secondary stats we have.

Just to throw more shit on the fire, from an interview in Famitsu today (courtesy of Emiliam on reddit):
(What is the main attack stat?) Cannot confirm whether main stat will be STR or DEX. Don't want people to start stockpiling gears.

like said before, if they plan to go with the DEX idea, i hope no, they will need a reeeeeaaally good reason for not allows ninja to wear the fuma armor that are STR oriented. outside this, nothing under the sun.
and i feel they are feeding the troll about the stats by the way hahahaha
I hope it's both. Allowing for some freedom - ie. if you do all STR you get to do more damage with your melee skills, if you do all DEX you get to deal more damage with your ranged skills or do 50/50 and you're balanced damage. Ninja's mudras combinations could have their effects vary depending on your stat allotment.Just to throw more shit on the fire, from an interview in Famitsu today (courtesy of Emiliam on reddit):

Honestly - the game needs more dynamic and viable builds. It's boring as is.![]()

sadly by doing this, they will make the ninja never be as good than any other counter part. let me explain:I hope it's both. - if you go full melee or full ranged you will limit your own skill choice and reduce your own fun... i can't see a better word, since you will have less choice into the cycle than any other class around
- if you try to balance, you will be less good than any class that solely go melee or ranged (monk, dragoon, bard) and people will not want class that are less good as dps than the other.
in many game where you have the talent tree people often go with the best one... that like this. freedom don't always means it's good or deeper... that sad, but true.
