So...recast? You're going to have to cast with a scroll anyway. I mean hell, buffs and stances drop when you sync down as well and I would rather they fixed that rather than trying to fix an issue which isn't actually an issue.
Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong, it simply means you have an opinion. Don't get irritated when people don't agree.
And if you're not a job that has access to protect? Like, most of them?
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
I never said it was an issue. I can manage just fine I just don't like having to bother other players to invite me for a protect. I don't think it is a big request to have Protect Scrolls sold at the GC vendor, FFXI have protect/shell/reraise scrolls.
That's not the point we're making. The point is; why are you, with all classes and jobs unlocked, unable to cast protect on yourself?

Why? Because the Job I use cannot use Protect. Is that a Design flaw? No, It's because MNK cannot use CNJ abilities, Which is perfectly fine. I already posted in the OP Will SE let us keep buff when we change jobs? Probably not, But I assume it would be far easier to add a Protect Scroll than to keep buff when changing.
Read.
If you switch to Conjurer, cast Protect, and then switch to another class, THE PROTECT BUFF WEARS OFF.
You can't use it as a cross class skill BECAUSE NOT ALL CLASSES CAN USE PROTECT.
Overlooked that sorry.
But since we're talking about damage mitigation, Monks have a stance for that don't they?

Here's the thing, when you switch to Fists of Earth and gain a damage reduction you lose your increased ability to deal damage with Fists of Fire. The end result is you take less damage but the mob you're fighting takes longer to kill which generally results in you being at a similar level of health when you kill your target anyway.
While both stances have their uses there's really little point in using Fists of Earth solo unless you're fighting multiple opponents.
Just switch between the 2 stances. If you see your enemy start a high-damage attack, switch to Fist of Earth and then back to Fist of Fire. Here's the thing, when you switch to Fists of Earth and gain a damage reduction you lose your increased ability to deal damage with Fists of Fire. fixed it a bit, because all classes can use protect
Fist of Earth should be then more usefull for MNK than protect .
It reduce the damage instead to increase the defense.Reduces damage taken by 10%.
