I put in a suggestion for this early in 2.0. The concept is that it would be permadeath, but you upon death, you could enter a mini-game in the lifestream to bind to a Primal. The level you died at would determine how strong your Primal form was, such as number of attacks and strength (how many people it would take to kill you as a Primal).

This whole concept would require a separate server, most likely, as it would be somewhat "PvP" based (class/job players vs. Primal players). But it would result in an endless struggle for power between good and evil. Players leveling classes would try to get as high as they could in level before dying so that they could try and bind with a strong Primal, and killing the strongest Primal players would net you the best stuff, since the attacks and battles would be more unpredictable. Ultimately, you'd pick a side (Primal or class/job) and wouldn't want to give up your powerful stance, kind of balancing out the playerbase.

But........ this is a major revamp of the whole concept of FFXIV themepark. A little too ambitious, though I adore HC mode in games. I went into great detail about abuse, rewards, servers, population, the lifestream mini-game, target demographic, roaming Primals, and Primal creation in my suggestion. Too bad it's not popular enough for this generation of players.

I think the penalty for dying is too harsh. Maybe like when you die, you loose some experience points and you can be ressed but the weakness debuff would be more severe and longer.

I do want hardcore lowlvl dungeons...like same mechanics and everything but with 50% haste for the bosses and trash mobs maybe. Mmm....I can imagine it now from those Shasta final boss trash mobs popping twice as fast...stone Virgil final boss the ice dragon using his mechanics twice as fast all the way to av's final boss super quick bad breath and germinate

    I agree OP.

    Hardcore Servers:
Limit to 8 characters per server. Can not delete a character to make a new one. Once all 8 of your characters die you can't access that server anymore.
Characters that reach 0 HP are incapacitated. You have 20 seconds to be revived or you're dead in the game forever. You can fall victim to an overkill and it kills you on the spot you can't be revived anymore.
Gear goes through definite wear and tear and once it reaches 0 it is destroyed. Repairing reduces the stats on the gear. (There's no seals/token gear DL, Myth, and Soldiery gear does not exist. Only purchaseable gear is the PvP gear and you need to constantly participate and survive to own it.)
Stats on gear (from ilvl 1-55) are gated behind materia if you're a crafter and dungeons. After that your gear progression is Coil and Coil 2. Primals and CT do not offer gear.
There's no rested EXP and if you try leveling past 2hrs straight your character starts going into a negative state losing 10% stats and 10% every 30 minutes. At -40% you start inflicting status ailments to yourself and at -80% you kill yourself.
Your character needs to eat 3 times a day so that it doesn't starve to death either.
    Content never gets nerfed.

Pretty funny that it's ending up to be too hardcore for the hardcore.

If it were a single player RPG then it would fit in quite well. Considering end game content revolves around other people and certain dungeons give low level groups some trouble...People would be restarting daily, possibly hourly. I suppose people could level with Leves and Fates though.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

That isn't "hardcore", it's just stupid.

You're suggesting that a hardcore mode entices hardcore players by enticing them to not play the game?

Sorry but no since people that work out can do it. So it's not stupid if you're not hardcore enough to be part of a real hardcore experience then hardcore isn't for you.

It's not that it's "not popular enough for this generation," it's that you're describing essentially a completely new game at that point.

1.You die that's its no restart, no revives, dead
2.You die your character resets all the way back to 1 with all content reset as well
I believe you can implement this version of Hardcore. When your character dies, immediately logout, delete your character and create a new one. My suggestion would be to stay away from duty finder...

It starting to sound too hardcore.

Back in my days you had 3 lifes and if you died you started from the beginning.

If there were a separate Hardcore server, upon death, that character gets a free server transfer to a non-hardcore world of your choice (that's not currently overpopulated).

If you were on regular servers and you died, you just lose Hardcore (Immortal?!) status on that character and any rewards that you've suggested, such as title/mount/whatever, permanently disappear.

I think people would be much more inclined to give that a go.

Also to those saying "to learn fights/dungeons you have to die" - sure, but mayhap your 'hardcore' character is an alt wherein you've done those runs 100x on your main and are well-versed in their execution.
